I do

When is it?

@echill40 How did your interview go today?

Yes do tell !!

well, I think it went pretty well, but of course I'm home now and rethinking everything. ha! Also, I did stumble on a couple of the clinical scenario questions - I felt kind of off in the meeting and like I was getting a headache (which I contributed to stress and nervousness lol), and now today I have a full blown sore throat and respiratory symptoms. So, I guess I was prodromal during my interview. I did eventually answer the clinical questions I think in an adequate way, but I did require some help on a couple. I definitely think part of the process is just to see how you handle pressure. I maintained composure and answered as well as I could, and definitely was correct in most of what I said. Let's just say I didn't say anything crazy that would kill a person, so that's good. ahhahahha. good luck everyone! I will let you know what I find out! they said hopefully by tomorrow I will hear something.

All of the units sounded GREAT too, and I would be happy with any one of them.

@echill40 I’m sure you did awesome! I would’ve been anxious as well. What type of clinical scenario questions did you get??

cardiac related - basically it was recognizing when things go south like when the person is in show or heart failure and what to do in those situations.

shock, not "show." ha.

@601pink15 when is your interview, and for what units? good luck!

actually I meant to ask @catfriend45 when her interview is and what units.

Hi. I already did it. Not sure how to feel about it. I wasn’t really asked any questions. There was a lot of talking and a tour but nothing directly about my experience. I’m taking that as a bad sign ?. It was for a women’s services unit btw. Good luck @echill40 and everyone else!

aw I hope you got it! I know women's services is popular and there don't seem to be a ton of openings.. : /

Hey guys, I happened to pass by your post and decided to share my experience with the hiring process...

I applied to the residency for the spring term in September for the Fayette & Stockbridge locations & received an email from the recruiters to set up a phone interview.

During the phone interviews they only asked about my expected graduation date, prior experience, precepting location, and the units I was interested in (I precepted in the General Pediatric Floor at the Children's Hospital in Macon)

The top unit I was seeking for was the NICU, followed by L&D, & Mother/baby

At the time there was only a NICU position at the Fayette location, so I scheduled an interview there. During the interview I was asked about my experience (4 yrs dental assisting & a summer nurse externship in the ER at Wellstar) and asked more behavioral questions like how would you resolve a conflict, or how would you deal with the family, etc.

After about a week, I followed up with the recruiter and was informed I did not get the position, and decided to go ahead and interview for a L&D position & Med Surg position at Stockbridge.

Im not going to lie, I was really discouraged after the NICU position was filled, and honestly did not have many hopes for the L&D position. I interviewed with the Med Surg positions 1st. It was a panel interview with all 8 floor nurse managers for the hospital. They did ask about medical situation questions like, what kind of things would I see in a cardiac vs a surgical floor, etc. It was intimidating, but they were all very nice. They mentioned that for the med surg floors the grad program had a rotation in the ER to help with IV training. An hour after the interview was completed, I received a call from the recruiter that I had been offered 6 positions, and to let her know if I was interested in any of the positions.

The next day I had the L&D interview. I went in not feeling very hopeful, but still gave it my all. Like the NICU, I was really only asked behavioral questions, and they really did dive into my head dental assistant position. They asked how did I deal with pts, other peers, etc. Once the interview was over, the director stated that she still had other interviews lined up and they would keep in touch. About a week passed, and I decided to email the recruiter to see if the L&D position was filled, before I pick a Med surg unit, and to my surprise, she said she was just about to contact me to offer me the job!

I accepted the L&D night shift position, base pay offered to me was $27.50, but it turns to $31.50 with night shift differential, plus another $3.00 during the weekend shifts

After accepting the offer, you will get emails about submitting referrals though an online service, background check info, etc. I just took & passed my NCLEX on the 11th, and had the employee health checkup on the 13th. Now I am anxiously waiting for my 1st day (orientation) this upcoming Monday the 24th... I can not believe I am finally a RN and got the position I wanted! So nervous lol
