hello i already took the net and i have to say please focus on the reading comprehension the math was easy! i have the hobbet book i studied for 2 weeks straight and i failed horribly so i am now just getting books on how to take tests so good luck!
Wow, I can't believe the reading comprehension is the hardest part. I am really getting nervous. 21 days until I take the NET, and counting down. Glad to hear the math is easy. How about the science? I really don't know how to prepare for the reading comprehension. Math and science, I can prepare for, but I don't see how someone can prepare for the reading??
I bought the RN Pre-Entrance Exam book from Barnes & Nobles. Although I am taking the LPN entrance exam. I just don't have the money right now to buy the LPN book, so I am sticking with the 2 books I bought for the RN. I bought these before I decided to go the LPN to RN route. I don't have a job right now because I am using the last 21 days I have left to prepare for the NET. I just hope all the effort I put in gets me into the program.
The main thing I will have trouble at is the vocabulary. I got a handout from the college that has 1000 words to review and know to be prepared for the NET. In the book I bought, they have things like: What is the synomym of posterity; What is the antonym of inhospitable; or proclivity is to inclination as barbarous is to uncouth. To me this is really hard because my vocabulary is weak. It's definitely my weak area. Is this what the reading comprehension is like on the NET??
I am wondering if I will even pass myself. I better get going and start learning some big words, lol.
thats true. the study guide will tell you to study all these rhings, such as science and chemistry, vocab, but its not on the test. The same thing happened to me. I studied all of it and comes the test only readong and math are on there. I would focus on the reading more than math. Im not that good in math but i aced the math portion. The reading portion is a killer tho'.
And she told me not to waste my money on the Net study guide. It is really expensive. She said that our university library has it on reserve and I also know that we have it at the community college I go to. She says you can go through the book in two hour increments fairly quickly. I suppose if your library doesn't have it, you could try your local mega bookstore and hang out there.
Her other bit of advice is not to get to hung up about the reading comprehension part of the test. It's timed, so you really have to answer all the questions in 30 minutes. She says she has seen some students get so caught up that they only anwser the first 15 questions. If it gets to 25 minutes, just start guessing so you can at least finish the test.

I take the NET in the morning. I have the study guide that's been suggested on here. Honestly, I'm worried about it because it's so important but I've taken the practice tests in the book and I'm hoping that's enough. For me, 9 times out of 10 I worry more about something than is necessary so maybe that's what alot of us are doing now about the NET.
Thanks to everyone who has posted on what their experience was taking the NET. It does sound like it's similar to what is in the study guide. I'll be sure and post again tomorrow after I have taken the test.
Best of luck to all of us fixing to take the entrance tests.

I don't know, I thought it helped. Of course I bought mine on Ebay, so it wasn't that expensive.
The Net Study Guide from Eriworld.com does not have Science, Vocabulary or chemistry, at least not the one I bought.

Thank god there is no vocabulary and no science. At least on the one I took. The way I am preparing for the reading is getting books on readindg comp and just keep taking the practice test. My main problem before all of that is being nervous! this has always been my dream and this test is the key. I have to calm down . I'm nervous about it as we speak. i take it again sept.30. I'll pray for you and you can pray for me!Wow, I can't believe the reading comprehension is the hardest part. I am really getting nervous. 21 days until I take the NET, and counting down. I take mine on September 7th. I'm so nervous because I know this is the key as well. This will either make my dreams come true or delay them. I really want it now, so I can be accepted into the LPN program in January 2006.
I think that's a great idea... praying! I will pray for you! I asked Jesus to help me through this whole process because I know I can't do it without Him. Praying works. I'm going to do my best on preparing for the exam. I will concentrate on the math and reading comprehension. Let me know how it goes for you. I won't know if I am accepted or not until the beginning or middle of October... somewhere around there.. give or take.
God Bless :)
For anyone who hasn't taken the NET, you might find this helpful. I've never taken the NET, so don't really know what to expect. I got some study material from the community college to help prepare me for the NET.
But I also ran across this website, and just purchased unlimited access to practice questions for a month. It only costs $19.95 for a full month. There are a total of 2000 questions, and the areas they cover are... reading comprehension, science, mathematics, and verbal. From what others are saying on here, science is not on the NET. However, the reading comprehension and math part is very good.
FYI it's http://www.internetexam.com
Someone on here might have suggested this..
I think I made the right choice on purchasing it. I feel I will be prepared if I keep practicing.
Just wanted to bump this thread back up. I just got home from taking the NET. I passed with great scores! :) For those who haven't taken it yet I can't recommend highly enough buying the eri study guide. I realize the book is overpriced, but it's well worth as the NET is very similar to the book.
All the advice from this thread is dead on as to what's on the NET. Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer questions on the net test.

Your welcome, and I agree with an above post. The reading part is the most important. However, be careful with the amount of time you spend on each question.
Good luck to you! :)
