I bought the NET Study Guide that is offered on Eriworld.com off of Ebay. I'm not sure about Hobbet?????

Also, http://www.testprepreview.com/nursing_practice.htm has basic algebra, etc.

When i went to pay for my test which was not the NET but HESI, which is basically the same test but from a different company, the lady told me not to buy the study guide. She said they sold it just to make money. But what did I do? I bought it and boy was she right. The book was $30 and it was horrible and very small. It was worth about $5. The lady told me to just go through the internet and look up basic math fractions, know how to add, multiply, divide decimals, fractions, units like gallons, look up reading comprehension and some very light medical trminology and proper grammar. She was right. Good Luck

The math section is adding, subtracting, multiplication & division, first of all. Then there is also fractions, ratios, and basic algebra.

I do recommend the NET Study Guide. It gave me a few pointers, and reminded me of a few math rules I had forgotten. (for example: when dividing fractions, you need to multiply by the reciprocal.)

If you can answer things like X + 5 = 10, or

If N = 6, what is the answer of 6N + 2?, then you'd be able to do the NET.

The hardest looking Algebra problem was simple:

6 + (5n) - (6-5n^2) + (4 - 3n^2 + 6n +5)

Ok, on this ^2 would equal an exponential 2, but I couldn't raise it up. lol

On this problem, remember your order of operations by this sentence:

"Please excuse my dear Aunt Sally". (Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, adding, subtraction)

I didn't actually solve this problem, but the answer would still have an n in it. You are not solving for n, but simply getting it all so a simple sentence. (for example 2n^2 + 11n - 6) or whatever the answer actually comes out to be. It could be 11n-2.... and so on......

Ratios/proportions were a little tricky, but the Study Guide explained those as well.

I have applied to the LPN program, which starts January 2006. I take the entrance exam in 26 days. I am just now starting to prepare for it. I bought 2 books for prepartion, although they are for the RN entrance exam. I bought them before I decided to take the LPN to RN route. I figure they will be good enough. I think if I know the stuff in the RN books, then I will know the stuff in the LPN. I've gotten some handouts from the college for LPN entrance exam. I have taken A&P I and II. I think that will really help prepare me for the science part. The main areas that I am concentrating on are science, math, and vocabulary. My vocabulary is weak, so really nervous about that. The handout I got from the college has 1000 words. Some of these words I've never even heard before. I can feel the anxiety kicking in. The college I want to go to is only accepting 20 applicants. I also plan on going by the college and getting some help with my math. They have a tutor there on specific days. The nursing department said they are taking the top 20 scores on the exam... talk about pressure.

Maybe you should try going to a book store (BAM or Barnes & Noble) and compare the different NET study guides they carry. It may help to find which one is right for you by picking out the one that is easiest to understand. There are so many different ones out there and I am sure you'll come across one that you relate to well.

I just took the NET this past Saturday. The math part was a piece of cake... if you can remember how to add things like:

4573 + 8953 and subtract them, that's about 15 of the problems out of the 60. Then you multiply & divide 4 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers.

I think the hardest part was remembering how to do something like:

6 1/2 % of ____ is 25.

Remember how to add your fractions like: 5 1/6 + 1 3/4.

The algebra was as somebody else mentioned. There were a couple you had to reduce to simplest form. So, if you had:

(x2 + 3x + 15) - (2x2 + 4x - 7)

You have to distribute the - sign to the second part & then just go with "like" numbers to get your answer.

The only other part of the NET that matters is the reading comprehension. There's no easy way to study for that... Just read carefully and pick the best answer.

I downloaded some practice tests online from Morrison, LLC. It was $14.95 and they offered a money back guarantee. After taking the first one & finding all of their errors, I asked for my money back and received a credit within 3 days. They do request that you give them feedback on why the test wasn't helpful.

Taking their tests actually kinda freaked me out for when I went to take the NET. They had me trying to remember all of my little algebra equations. Like a2 + b2 = c2 and how do you find the area of a trapezoid? And none of that was on the NET.

Basically, just review how to do your percentages and I think you should be fine.
