medication administration at correctional facility
Does anyone work at a prison, jail, or detention center??? For any nurses who do work in such a setting... what are the laws about medication administration? I'm specifically inquiring if it is within a LPN's scope of practice to take medications in a locked box outside of the clinic and to another destination(prisoners room) and dispense the medication to the prisoner in his cell/destination/room or whatever the case may be that the prisoner is residing?? They are thinking about having the nurses where I work take meds to 2 specific buildings. The reason being is that these 2 buildings hold the "out of control" youth from the facility and they think it's not safe to have them come to the clinic. The doctor has agreed to go along with this since it's a special circumstance. So I am sure it's okay, but I am still curious. I know you would have to have the MAR with you as well as a locked box. Thanks in advance for anyone who has some input on this.

Cant stand the wait!!
I'm in the same boat. I took my exam at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 13. I have called the quick access number to see if I passed 3 times already, even though it says it takes 2 whole days to find out. Best of Luck!! Mine shut off at 180 I think. It was around there. I wasn't paying too much attention because was concentrating on the questions and decided to keep looking after each question lol. Last thing I know is I was at 177, then few questions later, it shut off. The wait is KILLING me. I was fine all day yesterday but now as the time comes closer to finding out, I'm getting VERY nervous.

Nursing Diagnosis Please Help
I am having trouble coming up with 2 potential nursing diagnosis for one of my patients. He does not have a diagnosis and was admitted to the hospital for headache and ear pain. Both of his eyes were red and sensitive to light. They ruled out pink eye. Please help with what he would be at risk for. Thanks.... I could use the help.

ques. about the NLN exam
I just received the letter today from the school and I got accepted. I start in January... three months from now. I can't believe it. I'm pretty psyched right now. Plus I just started a job that I really like too, but have chosen to go with the nursing. I have 3 months to save as much money as I can. Just wanted to let everyone know. I'm so determined to make this happen. One step at a time.

ques. about the NLN exam
I just took the NLN yesterday. There were 3 sections: verbal (80 questions), math (60 questions), and science (80 questions). We were given 60 minutes to complete each section. I ran out of time on the verbal and math section, and ended up having to bubble in the rest when I saw I only had 5 minutes to complete each section. There were 85 students there taking the test, and the school is only accepting 36 of those people. I came out of the test feeling very discouraged, and today feel the same. I am trying to think of a plan B if I'm not accepted. The lady there said we could get our results from the school's website in 2-3 weeks, and it will show how we did in comparison to the others that took the test. We will then receive a letter in the mail in about 4 weeks on whether we've been accepted to the January program or not. Right now, it's a toss up on whether I will be accepted or not. I didn't feel confident and guessed a lot on the test. Except for the math, I knew those answers, but then again, I ran out of time so had to bubble in the remaining question's I didn't get to. I had about 10 questions left on the math and ended up having to bubble them in.

study guides on N.E.T./exams
For anyone who hasn't taken the NET, you might find this helpful. I've never taken the NET, so don't really know what to expect. I got some study material from the community college to help prepare me for the NET. But I also ran across this website, and just purchased unlimited access to practice questions for a month. It only costs $19.95 for a full month. There are a total of 2000 questions, and the areas they cover are... reading comprehension, science, mathematics, and verbal. From what others are saying on here, science is not on the NET. However, the reading comprehension and math part is very good. FYI it's http://www.internetexam.com Someone on here might have suggested this.. I think I made the right choice on purchasing it. I feel I will be prepared if I keep practicing.

study guides on N.E.T./exams
I take mine on September 7th. I'm so nervous because I know this is the key as well. This will either make my dreams come true or delay them. I really want it now, so I can be accepted into the LPN program in January 2006. I think that's a great idea... praying! I will pray for you! I asked Jesus to help me through this whole process because I know I can't do it without Him. Praying works. I'm going to do my best on preparing for the exam. I will concentrate on the math and reading comprehension. Let me know how it goes for you. I won't know if I am accepted or not until the beginning or middle of October... somewhere around there.. give or take. God Bless :)

study guides on N.E.T./exams
Wow, I can't believe the reading comprehension is the hardest part. I am really getting nervous. 21 days until I take the NET, and counting down. Glad to hear the math is easy. How about the science? I really don't know how to prepare for the reading comprehension. Math and science, I can prepare for, but I don't see how someone can prepare for the reading?? I bought the RN Pre-Entrance Exam book from Barnes & Nobles. Although I am taking the LPN entrance exam. I just don't have the money right now to buy the LPN book, so I am sticking with the 2 books I bought for the RN. I bought these before I decided to go the LPN to RN route. I don't have a job right now because I am using the last 21 days I have left to prepare for the NET. I just hope all the effort I put in gets me into the program. The main thing I will have trouble at is the vocabulary. I got a handout from the college that has 1000 words to review and know to be prepared for the NET. In the book I bought, they have things like: What is the synomym of posterity; What is the antonym of inhospitable; or proclivity is to inclination as barbarous is to uncouth. To me this is really hard because my vocabulary is weak. It's definitely my weak area. Is this what the reading comprehension is like on the NET?? I am wondering if I will even pass myself. I better get going and start learning some big words, lol.

I have applied to the LPN program, which starts January 2006. I take the entrance exam in 26 days. I am just now starting to prepare for it. I bought 2 books for prepartion, although they are for the RN entrance exam. I bought them before I decided to take the LPN to RN route. I figure they will be good enough. I think if I know the stuff in the RN books, then I will know the stuff in the LPN. I've gotten some handouts from the college for LPN entrance exam. I have taken A&P I and II. I think that will really help prepare me for the science part. The main areas that I am concentrating on are science, math, and vocabulary. My vocabulary is weak, so really nervous about that. The handout I got from the college has 1000 words. Some of these words I've never even heard before. I can feel the anxiety kicking in. The college I want to go to is only accepting 20 applicants. I also plan on going by the college and getting some help with my math. They have a tutor there on specific days. The nursing department said they are taking the top 20 scores on the exam... talk about pressure.
