what is the proper way to clear the airway of a term newborn with clear amniotic fluid using bulb suctioning
1- suction the nose first with the bulb compressed before insertion
2- suction the pharynx first with bulb compressed before insertion
3- suction the nose first with with bulb compression after insertion
4- suction the nose first followed by the mouth
A pt IV line is infiltrated, which action should the nurse take
1- apply compresses to relieve edema
2- DC the infusion and restart the IV on the other extremities
3- apply pressure on the site to relieve pain
4- apply moist heat to the IV site
I would say this. Not sure but going with my gut.
what is the proper way to clear the airway of a term newborn with clear amniotic fluid using bulb suctioning
Answer: 2- suction the pharynx first with bulb compressed before insertion
Only because you never suction the nose and then the mouth and you dont want the baby choking. I could be completely wrong on this.
However, I dont like that it says compress the bulb before insertion and babys are obligate breathers so maybe I should go with 3- suction the nose first with with bulb compression after insertion
This is where I always get stuck
So maybe 3 is my final answer

always suction the mouth first follow by the nose to avoid aspiration the trick i uses to remember these type of question is look for key word and go for you first instinct. known the procedure as mouth nose.
