Honey, just about every newly graduate nurse is looking for that acute care experience. The market is lousy right now. Take whatever you can get and get out of California. New York and California are probably the hardest to find employment right now. If you're able to do it, try North Dakota. They truly have a nurse shortage.
Wow that's discouraging. I just moved to Houston, TX and having a hard time finding a job as well. I've been an RN for 6 years and never have I applied to so many hospitals and get no calls back. I'm only applying for day time positions though because I have a 2 year old. I'm attributing it to the fact that most people want day shift and there a lot more applicants and trying not to take it personal or that they're not calling me because they think I'll make a crappy nurse.
Really broaden your horizons. I piece-mealed work for the first several months after I got licensed last June, and then finally started a full time clinic job in Feb. Now I am transferring within that company to my dream job in labor and delivery. Just getting SOMETHING on your resume will matter. I am always surprised at what jobs interviewers care about, and each of my jobs has brought something different to the table. I was working 3 jobs as a new grad, and while it was all over the place, it paid the bills and beefed up my resume, and I take the experiences from those jobs with me now. Check out Craigslist, do some Google searches, ask around, check out LinkedIn, and look around on here.

Yes, and in house seniority will get a chance at those day shifts first

I got my BSN from Taiwan 2014 June, and pass my Nclex this May, and had almost 6 months of clinical experiences at Taiwan. Currently, I'm at CA, and willing to relocate to TX. And I have applied for so many positions, but most of them require at least a year experience, especially in CA. Then as I applied for new grad, I don't get any responses....
Anyway, is the rehab, or senior care facility my only option now? If so, after a year in this kind of facility, will it help for me to go back to hospital?!
Really need help and suggestions, since I super want to work in an acute hospital icu setting!
