StonyBrook ABSN: Class of 2021

Published

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread here so we can connect. I am in the process of taking my pre-reqs and plan to submit my application by the Oct 2019 deadline for the Summer 2020 start.

I'm planning on attending the Sept 19 info session on campus - anyone else going?

Another day full of anxiety! LOL

Two years ago they received decisions on December 28th, I hope we don't have to wait another 10 days -_-

So I just called and they said the beginning of January ?

Literally just got off the phone b/c I wanted to update my app w/ my final prereq grade in A&P 2, but I was told it was unnecessary as decisions were already made and will be sent out before mid-January.

I called Student Services, though. Karen Allard is the admissions coordinator at the nursing school so it might be worth it to try reaching out to her via email!

How are decisions already made but they’re going to take a few more weeks to send them? This is so frustrating!

I was thinking the same thing! Maybe they just tell us January so we leave them alone lol. I have a feeling it will be before then but who knows.

Same situation here. My other option starts in Jan and needs my payment/loans set up by Jan 1st. And i've been procrastinating

Maybe contact Karen Allard and explain your specific situation?

I don't want to sounds negative but I truly don't think e-mailing or calling them is going to change their schedule/plans for releasing decisions. During my interview they were very adamant when telling us to not contact them about decisions because it could be as late as January.

Exactly. They aren't going to tell me anything they haven't already told the other people who called

I agree with FitnessNurse13. Calling them is not going to change anything. I am in the same situation as others I got accepted elsewhere, but Stonybrook would be economical. Slorte have you tried requesting an extension for admission?

For those that are undecided, can some of you tell us why you feel like SBU is the BEST choice considering 12 months would be much more vigorous than a 15 month program? This forum seems so much more active than Downstates ?
