StonyBrook ABSN: Class of 2021

Published

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread here so we can connect. I am in the process of taking my pre-reqs and plan to submit my application by the Oct 2019 deadline for the Summer 2020 start.

I'm planning on attending the Sept 19 info session on campus - anyone else going?

I’m surprised rejections didn’t go out yet! They usually go out early December .. I hope this doesn't mean the whole process of them sending out information is pushed back as well??‍♀️

Do you know for sure rejections haven't started to go out yet? Or you just haven’t heard anything?

@alymship I have not heard anything from this blog (I feel like there is a good amount of people who check it) or other people I know that applied to the program

Haven't heard anything.

I was told at my interview that we could expect decisions the last week of December or first week of January. As much as I'd love to hear back next week, I have a feeling that's not the case. But hey, fingers crossed anyway.

I feel like it may be the week of Dec. 30th. I hope I’m wrong, though!

I hope you are wrong too lol. At my interview we were told that decisions could be sent out anytime between the beginning of this week to the first week of January, sooooo I am just hoping that we hear on the sooner end of things lmao

Hey Everyone,

I know that SBU accelerated nursing program relies heavily on GPA, so I've decided to explain my case to you, please let me know what you think. my accumulative GPA is not high an pre requisite GPA is ok. I believe I made a strong personal statement, by explaining my GPA and why I want to be a nurse. I also have 3 years experience in patient care, plus recently passed the NCLEX PN on my first trial with 85 questions. So now I am licensed to work in NY as an LPN. I summited 3 letters of recommendations, one from the dean of nursing program (LPN) I attended, the other from a professor at Columbia and lastly one from my clinical instructor. plus, I never received an email for an interview. I know while applying it ask if I was an EOP student and i replies yes , but that was during my undergrad. BTW I graduated from Stony Brook with Bachelor in Health Science concentration public health.

I worried that because of my GPA, I wont be accepted into the program and the wait is killing me!

Specializes in Obstetric Acute/Newborn Nursery.

Hey everyone, good luck on hearing back soon. I graduated from this program in 2018. I promise the stress is worth it ?
