Stony Brook's ABSN Class of 2023

Published

Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance!

I just paid for both. They’re actually refundable if you notify the school by a certain date.

Hi Everyone,  I also got accepted as well.  I was wondering if any of you saw an option to deposit for housing as well?

Hi everyone! I just found this forum. Does anyone live far from Stony and will be commuting? I live about at least an hour away and I'm starting to panic about clinicals and traveling...

I will be commuting. However I’ll have a car. If you’re taking the train wouldn’t recommend it. From queens, to get to school alone is 2-3 hours. The hospitals where clinical are held can be 3+ hour train rides

Currently in the same dilemma.. I live an hour away by car so it isn’t too horrible but  I also think I would rather save those 2 hours to study and live closer to campus. Need to think more about this

Same! I feel like I shouldn’t be complaining, but I’m worried about waking up for early clinicals and getting home late…

Hi everyone, fellow commuter here!

I'll be commuting from Woodside, Queens by car. Hopefully we can get a carpool going for those of us coming from Queens! I'm definitely concerned about losing hours to studying as well, I figured I might record lectures and listen to them on the drives. We'll see..  Moving would be tricky for me. I have two young kids. Any other moms here?

Me too, especially since they're 12 hour shifts. Clinicals can be anywhere from Queens to the Hamptons, right? But I guess that's only 1-2 days a week and classes are 3-4 days a week, so it's better to be closer to SBU? I'm really not sure how it's set up and apparently we don't find out our schedules until a week before classes start!

Hi! I was accepted into the program as well! I submitted by tuition deposit of $150, but was wondering if anyone knew when we had to submit the $300 orientation deposit by? Also, does anyone know the cost of attendance for in-state students? Thank you!

Did anyone send their transcripts yet or are you waiting for more emails with information from stonybrook ?

Mom here as well! I have 2 preschoolers. I’m about a half hour from SB though, but definitely concerned since clinicals can be anywhere. This will be a wild ride. Still weighing out my options because I also applied to the Basic Baccalaureate 2 year program. Anyone else accepted to Accelerated that is also waiting on the 2 year?

I applied to the 2 year too, and honestly I'd rather be in that program to have a better life balance and be able to learn slower, but I accepted the ABSN offer so I wouldn't miss the deadline.

I am telling myself it's better to finish earlier even if the year is extremely painful and I have to dedicate every waking hour to it. I also just assumed their system will delete my BSN app, but I'm not sure how it works. Did you reach out to them about that?
