Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance!

Just curious but what is everyone’s opinion on what is considered a “ competitive GPA” I feel like it’s 3.7 +

I would think around there too. I know they list the minimum as 2.8, but I really can't imagine it's very common with GPA's of that score to get through when you have almost a thousand applicants every year. I'm also not sure if they mean pre-req GPA or overall undergrad GPA or both.

Hi ‘91 SUSB BSN grad and worked in Shock/trauma ED there with ground/air transport team, just wishing all the SUSB nursing students and applicants good luck this is such a stressful time in the world but your going to make a big difference!

Re: affordable programs in NY. I live in NYC where the most affordable private ABSN programs are about 60k and as much as 115k for NYU or Columbia. I REALLY don’t care to be 60k-100k in debt.  I applied to Stony Brook which was my first choice but didn’t get an interview. They are just very competitive because of the tuition and proximity to NYC, same with SUNY Downstate. If you’re willing to move further away from the city I suggest University at Buffalo, which costs 24k and is a great program. Also SUNY Brockport near Rochester. I got into both and even with housing costs they’re far more affordable than private schools. I ended up accepting admission to Villanova near Philadelphia with a half ride scholarship which starts in May. So there are other affordable programs out there with good reputations.

I emailed ————- and she said admissions should be out shortly. I hope that means today, best of luck everyone!

She didn't say today but the way she wrote that leads to me to believe they will be sent out today.

This is painful. Slowly running out of business hours today.

Definitely won’t be today, it’s already 4 pm. Im just trying not to think about it anymore because it was becoming a bit stressful.

Last year they came out on January 14th at 3:50 pm for the 1 year, and on April 9th at 4:24 for the 2 year. I think it could be any time up until about 5 honestly!

Do you guys know if they also send rejection letters same time and day or only the acceptance letters? Agreed that this is so stressful! I keep refreshing my email!

Did anyone hear back?
