Sure thing, I'll PM you when I get a spare sec.

Still haven't recieved anything except the "scholarship" letter. I spoke with someone on the phone and they assured me a "packet" was sent to me on 1/11. Its frustrating because I know im in, I just need the packet so I can get my paper work in. I expressed my concern about the packet being lost in the mail, and was told they would send a new one next week if I dont have it by weeks end. She said I would not lose my spot if the paper work is not in a timely manner since I dont have it to fill out. Its annoying because I live 10 minutes away from the university and it gets lost in the mail.....

People seem to be curious about GPA / degree about people who got in / didn't get in, so here is mine.

BS in Bioscience

GPA 3.91

Prereq: 4.0 (missing Anat and Phys 2, taking it spring semester)

Good luck to all those still waiting.

of course you got in with those grades. congraTS, i really envy you.

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Hey Meredith, that's too bad about your NO ... I wish you the best in the other programs to which you have applied, keep us posted about that (well, at least me :D .. I'd like to know there is a happy ending in your quest for a BSN).

I have not received anything yet .. I still wait ... and wait ... and wait ... :anbd:

But have not checked SOLAR in a week, so happy about that, much less stress!

:lol2: thanks Paco, you changed my tears to laughter!! Been a rough day, particularly on other sections of AN! I will keep you up to date so long as you do the same!

You bet! ;) ... I am glad to know I brought you some joy today!

So, I just got home from work & bee dived for the mailbox... I'm an alternate. Slightly relieved b/c there's still hope... but, of course, an acceptance against the SOLAR odds would've been awesome... haha. I will update w/ the decision when it's made. As for stats, I graduated w/ a 3.25 BS in Cell & Molecular Bio, 4.0 pre-reqs, work for the SF Dept. of Public Health as a flu clinic coordinator, & previously interned w/ AmeriCorps in their homeless community clinics for a year (mainly as a medical assistant/triage). While I was in college, I also volunteered w/ SF General's ER as a patient advocate & Haight Ashbury Free Clinic as a phlebotomist. I just really want to get into RN school & start a new chapter in my life... sigh... hopefully!!!

Hi, does anyone know do they actually call the references?

No they do not call, atleast I know they didn't call any of mine! I think there is no method to thier madness! I was accepted and I had a 3.3 in my ba (finance) and something like a 3.6 in my pre requsites, when I applied I had 2 pre reqs outstanding micro & a&p 2. I am a vollie emt for the last 3 years and I had recommendations from my fire chief, 2 stonybrook rn alumni (who has seen me treat pts on the ambulance) and an old boss who's is president of a fortune 500 company. I was just discussing w my bf why we think I got in and others w far better grades did not and who knows but we seem to think it was the emt and also the stonybrook alum recomendations since it is a smaller program they remember recent grads and put more stock in their opinions. Good luck to everyone whether your journey take you to sb or somewhere else! I'm sure w the passion u have shown here u will make great nurses!

wow congrats and they didnt even need ur micro and a&p2 grades lucky u
