Stony Brook Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2015 applicants

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello guys~ I m going to apply Stony brook nursing for 2015 Fall.

Is there anyone also applying?

I want to share information ^^

@squishified

Sorry for all these questions! But im curious to know how is housing that is 30 mins away? As far as conditions and the style of housing

@nirana

The housing 30 minutes away is a dorm that belongs to another college. The first floor belongs to the students going to the other college and the 2nd and 3rd floor are SBU students. It's apartment style 2 bedrooms 4 beds, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room. It's much larger than what you'd find on campus. The downside is the internet, it's not very reliable. Also the building itself is old. However you do get certain luxuries that SBU dorms don't always have like air conditioning, a kitchen you only share with your suite (not the whole floor/building like most SBU dorms), and 2 bathrooms per suite (SBU dorms only have 1 bathroom per suite). The dorms there aren't crowded so there are some people that end up in singles. No worries! I try to be as helpful as I can, I know the whole housing/transfer process is scary without knowing the full details of what it's going to be like. phewww I wrote a lot! let me know if there's anything else you'd like additional info on :up:

Thank you so much for typing all that. I really appreciate it. But yea, I guess that alright alright and the only downfall would be getting on campus which I can live with if I can find someone maybe who drives to campus. ALL in all it doesn't sound bad. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you are :( I am also placed on the alternate list and this wait is stressing me out :(

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone that was placed on the waitlist has heard anything?

Hi...no, I haven't heard anything yet... I wonder how many were placed on the alternate list?

Ughh.. I know I wish they could just tell us :(.

Tell me about it, this whole thing is making me so anxious but good luck to you and I really hope everyone on the list could make it in... :(

I just got a call last Wednesday that I'm in! There's still hope! Good luck :)

Does anyone know what the typical class schedule is like? Just wondering if we're there all day for 5 days a week. I know with the accelerated program they said its not possible to have a job, didn't know if they suggested the same for this. Thanks!

Schedule is changing every semester. For instance, the layout that was given to us for the two years just changed and we (2 Year students) are going to end up taking 22 credits this upcoming Fall, which was not listed in the curriculum. Last two semesters, I was able to handle about 24 hours at work. Classes are typically (im speaking about my first year as a 2 year student) were, lectures 2 days, clinicals 1 day for the first semester which only lasted about 7 weeks. Last semester, our schedule was lecture 2 days, 2 clinicals, again which started and ended earlier than other classes so that left you with 2 extra days to study or work, etc. This next upcoming semester we have classes 3 days, and 2 days clinicals which pretty much run through the whole length of the semester. So, all in all I would say you could probably pull off working your first year, but if they leave the schedule as is, it will be very difficult to work during your second year.

Hi guys. I am currently at SCCC just in the process of applying. My question is: if i applied to stony brook from high school and didn't get in, would they still see that? Would they see that I applied as a high school student and also all my grades because my unweighted average was around 98,they said only thing that set me back were my SAT's (1650) so would they still see all this information?

Currently, my GPA at SCCC is a 4.0 and i believe i have a strong essay and okay recommendation letters. What chance do you give me in getting accepted for the start of Fall 2016 for the BSN program?

I'm not sure if they'd still be able to see it but I definitely mentioned it in my essay for the accelerated program and the fact that I was accepted for undergrad (though I didn't attend). I already interviewed for the accelerated so I'm just waiting to hear back now. If I don't get accepted I plan to apply to the 2yr as well.
