Stony Brook Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2015 applicants

Published

Hello guys~ I m going to apply Stony brook nursing for 2015 Fall.

Is there anyone also applying?

I want to share information ^^

Congrats to everyone that was accepted and I wish everyone who didn't make it a lot of luck in their future endeavours. Now onto my advice for future students, guys please dont spend money buying textbooks unless you learn by reading. The only class that the textbook would be helpful in would be prinicepals and applications in Nursing 1/2 and professional role development, where its required. I am only in my second semester and haven't read one chapter as of yet.

Thank you! Do you have a list we can look at?

@yourlocalasian

Thanks for the advice. So im guessing exams are based on class ppt? Im always hesitant on not purchasing books in case there are stuff on the exams not covered in class.

For the most part, yes. I didnt reaf and I am still hanging onto A average. As you guys will find out, nursing exams are very different from your pre-reqs, its more about applying than regurgitating info. Note: I am a very lazy person so that could have contributed to MY OPINION, please ask other people or your friends who went or are in the program for their opinion. But, generally you can do well just studying ppts and doing A LOT OF PRACTICE QUESTIONS. Finally, my input is only based on the first two semesters so take it as is.

Hi everyone! Congrats to those that got accepted! I didn't receive an email but my solar account said I'm on the alternative list. Anyone else in the same boat? And does anyone know how many people are on the waitlist typically and how many are accepted? Wondering what my chances are since I only applied to SBU í ½í¸£ also wanted to mention I'm currently a SB student. Before that I went to CC, applied to SB BSN, got rejected, applied as regular admission to SB, got in, and now my 2nd time applying to SB BSN.

If it helps to know we had people (about 4) get calls as late as the day before orientation who are now in the profram. Dont lose hope!

I am on the alternate list for the accelerated program and if I am called for that I will give up my spot in the basic bsn program so you can definitely get called !

Hi everyone, I plan on living on campus and I wanted to know from students who attend SBU or are currently in the nursing program if it is hard to be accommodated with placement for a dorm?

@veronica_123

I am also planning to dorm. If you are a new student at SB or a commuter, you have to be put on a wait list to get placed. I am also hoping to be placed otherwise my commuting will make my schedule extremely strenuous.

@nirana

I'm going to be a new student at SBU . How hard would it be to get placement from 1-10? I'm going to hate if I have to commute from Queens.

Hi guys! I'm new to this thread (just joined).

I got my acceptance email yesterday. Congrats to everyone, I'm looking forward to meeting you guys!

@veronica_123

I'd say it's pretty hard to get placed into a dorm at SBU. I'm currently a student there. Last year I transferred from a CC and I got placed in a dorm 30 minutes from campus because they were overcrowded. I was only able to secure a spot on campus after living in that faraway dorm for 2 semesters.

@squishified

Did you try to get into Apartment style housing?

@squishified

Congrats to you ! Thank you for the information. Just out of curiosity how were you able to get to campus from your dorm if you don't mind me asking.
