Hello guys~ I m going to apply Stony brook nursing for 2015 Fall.

Is there anyone also applying?

I tried to get into west apartments but they were the first dorms to get all filled, they were at full capacity even before my registration time. SBU students have a certain registration time/date for residence halls depending on whether they're returning students etc.

the school provided a shuttle bus to and from the campus to the dorms. However, the scheduling was terrible so many people drove instead. I don't drive so I depended on the shuttle bus.

Wow! That sounds terrible! Thanks for sharing! I hope they really do something about this housing issue. I don't have a car so I'll be relying on the shuttle as well if that happens to me.

no problem! I'm glad I can help with sharing some info on my experience as a transfer student to sbu. Maybe since we're nursing students they might make an exception and give you guys a place on campus? I know stony brook has been having problems with housing this past year, they've accepted more students than they can possibly house

I hope you guys will get a dorm on campus! if not I heard there are houses nearby SBU that are renting rooms for cheap

That stinks about the housing :/ I just sucking I up for 2 years and driving the 45min-1hr drive :/ lol out of curiosity to the people who don't drive how did you get to your clinicals?

Does anyone know what the typical class schedule is like? Just wondering if we're there all day for 5 days a week. I know with the accelerated program they said its not possible to have a job, didn't know if they suggested the same for this. Thanks!

Does anyone know if loans from the school will cover housing off campus if I have to rent if I'm not placed? Might be a silly question but I'm so clueless about this

Did you pay the housing deposit? I don't know if that guarantees anything? And if we don't get placed, I wonder we get a refund.

I'm on the same boat as you. I'm totally clueless about how the deposit and everything works. I did pay my deposit.

I was told during my orientation last year that transfers aren't guaranteed housing. I had paid the housing deposit months in advance then was told I'd be placed in that dorm 30 minutes away around 3 weeks from when school starts. I'm pretty sure they would give you a refund if they couldn't place you in any dorm.
