ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
I couldn't resist and I called the Health Sciences Center and spoke to an admissions counselor there. She told me that the latest news, as of yesterday, was that the decision response has been changed from "beginning of April to mid-late April". I guess there's still a little more waiting ahead after all. Couple more weeks
Oh well...we have no choice but to stress out a little longer
Thanks for the update!

Was the admissions rep referring to Solar or the letters to be mailed? Geez this is driving me nuts!!! Wonder what's taking them so long!

Take what they say with a grain of salt .. they could just be feeding you a line just to keep you appeased with a vague enough answer without committing to something definite. That's how bureaucracy works! :)
IIRC, we got this same kind of runaround for the ABSN. At one point in late January we were told by mass email that we would get decisions by late Feb due to record # of applications received. Decisions in fact were released on Feb. 15 via SOLAR (and I got an email later that day notifying me that a decision was made and instructing me to log in - AFTER I noticed SOLAR change). I noticed my SOLAR decision in the morning @ 10am. I did not even know to check until someone had posted on here. There's no prize for being the first to check SOLAR and post on here ... LOL!
Just something to keep in mind in case you want to reduce your SOLAR checking obsession ...

At this point Im so sick of hearing different things that I just have to laugh. What will they tell us next?? Hang in there people!

The only thing left for them to say is that they are cancelling the traditional program for the fall semester ... but how far-fetched would that be?
Now I have to :chair: for saying that ...

I did ask her that and she told me both, but I know Solar is loaded before people receive the letter, soooo...
Also isn't next week mid april? sort of? so we'll see.
paco, you're right. They try to appease us so we stop calling, I'm sure they're sick of hearing from potential students. Regardless of being the first to post about a decision response I still check Solar in the morning and in the afternoon, by night I know there will be no change. I can't help myself, I'm going CRAZY!!!
