Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

Ohhhhhhhh Boyyyy!!! :sofahider

LOL!!! I love the emoticon, cause that's probably what I would do when I am logging into Solar!! LOL....

Wow!!!! It is super quiet on this thread! FYI I was at the School of Nursing, and they are preparing the "packages" to be mailed out. I have seen it myself (well not the actual letters and names or anything..I wish!) So I am assuming any day now???

this just made me so happy.. thanks for the info :)

I'm glad! It's not known as to when they will actually be mailed, but it's a start!

I am praying for all of us to get in, as I know many of us are relying on this to jump-start our futures. I wish all of you the best of luck!

If they are preparing the "packages", that sure means that mailings are imminent. However, I would think you guys would find out through SOLAR first as we ABSNs did. Keep checking those SOLAR accounts! :D And by the way, does not matter if you get in or waitlisted or denied, EVERYONE seems to get a skinny letter (at least that was the case with me). So if you don't find out through SOLAR, you will just have to hope and pray for the best when you get the physical letter which won't have any clue either way what it says inside.

Paco...forgot to mention that my cousin who's in the Marines, taught me a trick of rolling your clothes to make more space in your suitcase....hope that helps! Have you found a place yet? Because all over campus there are postings for "rooms to rent" and I would be more than happy to jot down the names and numbers to send over to you. Also you may want to try Stony Brook's main page then current students, then under housing, facilities and dining you will see a link for off campus housing. I hope that helps! Have fun packing!!!

Well, I will be packing more than just a suitcase but thanks for the tip! It's boxes as well. I will be interested to see how much stuff I can manage to pack into my little ol' car. This will be an interesting trip up north. When I moved south I caught the Auto Train out of VA all the way to FL but this time I will be hauling north the whole way by car. Ack! I have never done it by myself, but there's a first time for everything! I have been checking that off-campus housing page, thanks! Since I am looking for something starting in June, not sure if it is too early to set something up now - but if you see anything that looks like they will rent starting June 1 or around that time, please PM me the info, thanks Lisa!

to anyone who was accepted to the ABSN program- how long after you got your decisions on solar did you get your letter in the mail?

PACO-

Not that I know of.... still waiting to hear back from the two year program. How long after the decisions were out did you get waitlisted?

~*wishful thinking *~

I'd say about a week, but keep in mind that my letter had to travel across several states so it might have taken longer than for someone with a New York address.

Hard to say last year, considering nothing was posted on SOLAR and we all found out through mailed letters and because like I mentioned above my letter took longer to receive down here. But I believe I pretty much found out around the same time as the people getting acceptances if you factor in mail delay. The advantage this year is that you may very well find out through SOLAR first. I can't imagine they would do anything different for the traditional than what they did with the ABSN.

Hello everyone,

I am one of applicants of the 2-yr program. However, I get a problem here.

I didn't take the BLS/AED yet, just wonder where did you take it? Must I take as a course or I can just do some no credit clinic?

Thanks a lot!
