ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
mellie:
thanks for the info! i had read thru the packet quickly the first time, but youre right it does say the deposit is refundable by april 1st so ill def be sending that in to hold my spot
can you tell me a little about the workload in the accelerated program at SB? is it as demanding as some people say that it is? or does that vary depending on the individual students abilities?
Congrats misStaken! but i guess you still want SB rather than downstate right? lol i havent heard anything from downstate yet... but I did get a letter from farmingdale telling me to register for the Pre-Admission exam which is kind of a good sign (well its a 100 bucks for the exam...) my 1st choice is still SB but i would be soo happy to hear from any other schools... my birthday is only 5 days away, hope one of them give me a big birthday gift ='(
Just wondering, what was ur reading and math score on the TEAS? (if you don't mind sharing)
when is this waiting gonna end??? :hdvwl:

thanks dr3amygirl! yes stonybrook is still my first choice, but i am somewhat relieved to have gotten into downstate..those were the only 2 ASBN programs i applied to..my TEAS scores for math/reading were reading 95.2% math 93.3%.. i also sent my downstate app in very early, i think in september? i was more focused on the SB essay and wanted to get the downstate app out of the way.. anyway good luck to you, im sure you'll be hearing back soon and maybe we'll be classmates!! (hopefully at SB but maybe at Downstate lol)
ps happyy early birthday! mine was last saturday so i guess i got a bday gift from downstate a few days late LOL good luck!
Hello Everyone!
I've been lurking on this thread for a while and decided to join in. I am also waiting anxiously to hear if I've been accepted into the Accelerated program at SBU.
I've also applied for the regular two-year program as well. Does anyone know when we are going to hear about acceptances for that program? Will it also be at the end of February?
Thanks and Good Luck to everyone!
Ah, I see...I am missing a couple of the pre-reqs for FSU and would mean moving my family (again and w/o my husband)...not sure if they will accept CLEP for any- no reply from them on this quesiton. But, also seems they expect you to have a bit of experience in the community, etc...I am grasping since their deadline is later and I can see what happens here before even really thinking about it.
I keep hoping solar will change a couple of weeks earlier than the letters come like it did last year, so I am checking daily- but only once!
I did consider FSU ... but like FAU, there was something about the program that I did not like, or perhaps something about admissions that made me say no. The only thing I can think of was the "writing sample" they wanted ... I remember thinking it was dumb to ask for that ... but then I guess would not the Stony Brook essay serve as a good one to use?...
I just now went to the USF website to see what it really was that made me not apply, and it can't be the prereqs because I have them all. Pretty sure it was the writing sample thing that made me pass on the school, which in hindsight sounds simple enough. But not at a time when the Stony Brook essay was looming, however! I got lazy, that's probably the bottom line. I did not want to write a whole new essay, even if it was 2 pages. Lazy!!
Hi Paco,
I had replied but forgot to address it to you...sorry...pls see my sep post.

Hi HopefulLInurse,
Welcome! This is a tough time- we all thought we would know by now...I am not sure about the 2 year program, I am sure someone else can answer that question.
Only a couple of more weeks!

I applied to the two-year, they said we should hear in march or april, but judging on how late they are with the accelerated program's decisions, i doubt we'll hear before may. i'm totally anxious about it so i've decided to keep may in my head as when i'll hear.. if i think it will be march, and i don't hear i'm gonna get crazy. lol
