Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

Hi dfgo,

Thanks so much for the info! Just wondering since one of my BIG concerns is regarding background of the students selected for this program- are there any students you have met who had NO prior healthcare experience or any educational background in sciences (except for the required pre-reqs)?

Thanks so much!

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

welcome to february! :D

just think ... in exactly one month we will already know our fates with sbu ... hang in there, folks!

goshh...hopefully this month goes by quickly!!

Good thing Feb is a short month, we should only have to wait a maximum of 27 days from now to hear! Still sounds so far away though, grrr.....:uhoh3:

Annie - I am in the ABSN as well right now. I agree with everything Dfgo has said about the program and there are members with no medical experience... I would say its about 50/50 split of those w/ experience and those without.

These boards were very helpful to me so I like to pay it forward! Feel free it ask any questions... You can my backround and stats on last years boards.

How many people do they take into the ABSN program?

So nice to see the former candidates I was chatting with last year come back and help us out as we wait. Suddenly, I feel like that kid that was left back a grade in school :(

EDIT: Oh, in case anyone was wondering about the change in my status numbers, it was NOT Stony Brook that caused the change (although I gather you would know that by now, lol). I got into Univ of Miami, but have to decline due to $$$. Sucks I know ... but I'm moving forward and hoping for the best! :)

happy february everyone!! only a few more weeks, hang in there! i was wondering if anyone else here also applied to downstates accelerated program? i just got my acceptance packet in the mail today, and they want a response and deposit within 2 weeks..wont have an answer from stony by then so i dont know what to do!!

62 i believe....

Paco glad to see you back! Its is worth it

Misstaken... I was in the same boat last year... I believe it is a refundable deposit so I just sent it in and then cancelled when I heard from SB

Thanks Mellieinab!

It is good to know there are diverse backgrounds within the class. Also helpful to hear that you are happy with the program. With so many strong candidates, how do they really make these choices?

Any advice you would give to future students?

Good luck completing the program!!!:nurse:

Hi Paco,

Just wondering if you applied to the accelerated at FSU Tampa? I just started looking at other options for the future (just in case) and that program is interesting...
