Nursing Application has now opened for the Basic BSN fall 2018 program. I will be submitting my application Sept 1. I noticed there was no forum so I decided to start one... Good Luck to everyone that is applying. It is a bit early but it doesn't hurt to communicate with everyone. Has everyone finished all their pre-reqs?
@RNLuvie, Yeah! This is my first time applying. I wanted to finish my BS in Health Science first which is what I initially went to Stony Brook for - I'm slightly older than most of the undergrads so I guess you can consider me a returning student. But yeah, the focus of the degree I'm finishing now is Public Health - I think it's a good foundation to have for any clinical position, but nursing especially, so either way they fit in well with each other. How about you?
And @Jared72293, that's awesome! Congrats on getting into accelerated! A few of my classmates applied and they were telling me how rough it was (AND to have all of it due right around our midterms week...), so that's really awesome that you were able to snag a spot. And you're an alum, that's cool! What was your major?
Hey everyone! I also applied to the basic BSN program. I can't wait to hear back.. best of luck to us all! I was wondering if anyone had any more information on the math test that's required during the interview. I definitely want to prepare myself as best as I can. Does anyone know if there are conversions on there (mg to g, etc.)? I saw an earlier post that said it was mostly subtraction, division, multiplying... I heard from so many people that this test was really difficult. I just want to be sure I know as many of the topics that are on it as I can. I graduated high school almost 8 years ago and both my degrees are involved with Psychology so any sort of math more complicated than those I need to brush up on asap. Thanks guys!
There wasn't any unit conversions nor anything like mg to g, although all you would have to do is multiply/divide by 1000 depending on the direction you are going . You just need SAT level math knowledge. Idk why people say the math test is so difficult. I thought stony brook's calc and statistics courses were a million times harder haha. Also on a side note, I was emailed by the program asking if I wanted to withdraw my application from the basic program since I accepted a spot in the accelerated. So that's a good sign you'll all hear soon!
