Nursing Application has now opened for the Basic BSN fall 2018 program. I will be submitting my application Sept 1. I noticed there was no forum so I decided to start one... Good Luck to everyone that is applying. It is a bit early but it doesn't hurt to communicate with everyone. Has everyone finished all their pre-reqs?
Hey everyone,
I am currently a student in the 2 year BBP at Stony Brook. As for the reference, I have heard all different combinations of people who got in to the program, one girl even had 2 TA's and one Prof. write her 3 and she got accepted. And from what I have learned from other students is that they accept GPA in the range of 3.0 and up. I know many people who are on the lower end and got in. Impress them with you essay, get to the interview and then show them who you are. They want to like you, they want you to be friendly and personable. The essay is your ticket to the interview, so make it count!
Hoping to get some advice from anyone. I am a student who believe she has ADD. I have been trying to find a doctor that accepts my insurance that could give me the proper evaluation. I have always had trouble focusing anywhere I go, especially in school. Although I struggle to focus I NEVER give up in school. I am applying for the nursing program at Stony Brook but I don't believe I will be getting in because of my grades. I only have an B in A&P 1&2.. Everything else is a C+ or C. I don't believe this qualifies for a great nursing student. I want this more than anything in the world. I always believed in helping and giving back to others in their time of need, no matter what their situation is. I know dedicating even just a minute of your time to someone can truly make a difference in someone else's life. I truly love the feeling of knowing I can or did make a difference and I want to give that to anyone! This has been the most heart breaking time for me because the career I truly want to pursue is out of m hands because of my grades. I was thinking about retaking some of my courses like Intro to Psych, &Developmental Psych. What Prereq courses does Stony Brook look at when considering an applicant?
I have heard form a graduate of the 2017 program, whom I became aqaunted with during clinicals during my Paramedic program, that their main focus is your essay and the subsequent (hopefully) interview. The gpa is less of a big deal as long as it is 2.9 and up and you have good LoR, a good essay and a good interview.
my anxiety is to the max... 11 or more.. im with you there.
