Any RN student clinicals cancelled because of COVID-19?
I cant speak to all schools or states of course. But I work closely with the faculty at my school, and here in NY, the state is regulating what can and cannot replace our clinical hours. Right now they are proposing we replace clinical with vSims, which of course is ... less than ideal. We also have forms that have to be filled out before we sit for our NCLEX that are filled out by the school certifying that we graduated and had a certain number of clinical hours. I believe all of that is state regulated, so not entirely sure where you might find it, but I know the standards are there.

Stony Brook Basic BSN class of 2020
@utsava, yes, you must respond within 10 days I believe! But that may be within 10 days of viewing the acceptance on SOLAR? I'm not sure. I really, really encourage you guys to call Admissions if you haven't received an email, they might be able to help and they're very kind/patient! Also, has anyone got any info about when orientation is?

I checked SOLAR, I'm already a student at Stony Brook. If you do not have an account on SOLAR, I would suggest maybe calling up Admissions and asking them to help you figure out how you can view your acceptance status! They've been able to tell me my SOLAR ID before if I've forgotten the number for it. Therefore, if you have one, they'll be able to tell you. Also, I know there's a FB group up, but I don't have/want a Facebook lol. However I'd love to get to know you guys! Would anyone be opposed to starting a GroupMe chat as well when we meet each other for orientation? It's what the Health Science major tends to use to communicate with each other and you don't have to sign up for anything. :)

I got in!!!!!! It will be so exciting to see you all in the fall!!! Congratulations to all - and even if you did not get into Stony Brook, please remember that Long Island is rife with amazing nursing programs that will prepare you just as well. We are lucky to live in a place that has several amazing options for this kind of career... don't give up hope. You will excel no matter what.

Eh im not super surprised though, they did tell us it would take this long and previous years did not hear back until 2nd week of April, so I think this is pretty typical unfortunately.

I'm not sure. Its definitely a possibility, but all I know is that these potential methods of contact from the office - I do not know if one indicates something over the other.

Yeah, thats what I meant. Like they got the email/letter/notification. A friend of mine (i know several people in the prog right now) was called on the phone. So i think the primary way is an acceptance letter via email.

From what I'm seeing it looks like the last two years of SBU threads went the same way as ths one. People got told all sorts of stuff but ended up getting letters from April 12th to the 14th. I think at this stage I am going to just wait until then. If it still is not here then I will call again. It even looks like last year they were told similar stuff too - high number of applicants, short staffed this year, etc...

Hey yall, I'm still holding out for another school but I ended up caving and made my deposit. I was wondering, have any of you received the notice we're supposed to get for our orientation date so that we may begin registering for classes? Also @BrokenFood, I don't think we're able to do anything with registration until we attend the required orientation. I usually need about 3-4 weeks in advance to get off from work, so I'm hoping it gets sent soon...

I went the second day and also was told late march, worst case first week of April... But the problem stemmed from my conversation with them yesterday, when a member of the admissions office stated it would be the end of april, potentially the last week. I repeated her to make sure i heard right because I was told a completely different time (late march) by my interviewers, but she said again end of April. Thats why I'm confused.
