Stony brook accelerated nursing class of 2019

Just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else has applied to the 12 month accelerated nursing program at stony brook!

I emailed them asking about what the admissions process is and the timeline. They told me to expect an admission decision in early January and that interview dates haven't been chosen, but will they take place toward the end of the year; not sure if they're telling the truth or not lol.

I emailed admissions yesterday as well. They said something along the lines about how they haven't chosen interview dates either.

*Sigh* Well if they're wrong emails should be sent today by 3:00PM. The fact that decisions will be made in early January instead of December though does sound like interviews would be done a lot later than expected.

I agree. I was told interviews would be at the end the year but that doesn't really make sense. From previous threads, they took a few weeks after interviews to send decisions.

Was anyone or is anyone a student at Stony Brook?! I graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 2015 from SBU

Hi everyone! I also applied for the ABSN program. Stony Brook and Columbia are my top choices..for CU I'm applying to the Masters/DNP program with a concentration in psychiatric nursing, but even though its my ideal program for my career choice, I'm only a 15 minute drive from Stony Brook...regardless I'll take either one! I'm also considering LIU Brooklyn and NYU, both of which have deadlines after I'd find out from SB and CU. I have a BA in Psych from Hunter, cum gpa 3.6, prereq gpa 3.8, I've worked for a psychiatrist for 5 years now and intern at an inpatient rehab facility..but most proud of being a wife and mom of 2 :)

@js1776... I've skimmed through the thread from last years program and it seemed like there was a question of whether being sent an email about a SOLAR account was an indicator of getting an interview/favorable/etc. could you explain what that was? Its obviously separate from the application portal, I'm assuming..has anyone else heard of this?

Hey! You and I are applying to the same schools! Columbia is also my first choice. I applied to only the MDE portion. Although I'm super interested in the DNP as well. I haven't decided which specialty but I am interested in perhaps Family Primary Care NP. I actually work at the Scool of Nursing at Columbia so I have great support from the nursing professors there.

Stony is my safety school, however if I get into both I think I will have a hard time deciding. I live in Queens but I am willing to move out to Long Island if need be.

I also went to a CUNY school but I went to Lehman College.

I was also looking at NYU but like you mentioned their deadline for their application is sometime in March.
