Just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else has applied to the 12 month accelerated nursing program at stony brook!
@piwinskia1 I have the same situation as you. Attended Stony Brook University for undergrad and ended with a 2.82 gpa with a major in health science concentrating in informatics. My health science gpa was 3.03 and my prereq gpa is basically a 4.0 just have to get an A in chemistry.
I submitted my app yesterday and have three letters of recs which I believe are really strong. 2 from physical therapists that I work with because I'm a physical therapy aide and one from a professor for a&p I took at my community college.
I also think my personal statement is pretty strong because my boyfriend graduated from the stony brook 2 years nursing program and he helped me with how I should write and what to really focus on.
I'm just worried about my damn cumulative gpa. What do you guys think? I'm also BLS certfied with Adult, Child, and Infant and AED. Idk if that's appealing either.

Your application is in anyways, so there's nothing else you can do other than rely on what other factors make you well-rounded besides your GPA. But as you said you have a 4.0 GPA in your pre-reqs so I would imagine that outweighs the rest of your cumulative GPA. It shows you're science competent.
I would suggest you apply to Columbia University. HEAR ME OUT. I submitted my application to them a few days ago. They REALLY take a look at your application holistically. Not to mention you'd get a Masters on top of your BSN just for an additional three months you'd be doing at Stony!
The application for Columbia is still open. My friends GPA was really low but he ended up killing it with his pre-requisites. Not to mention he had a super fierce personal statement and he got into Columbia's Masters AND DNP program.
If you have time to rush another 11 days you can still make the application deadline. (Just need to really work on your GRE testing scores, but they take anyone above the 50th percentile).
Good luck! I hope you looked at other options. I guess another thing going for you is you graduated from Stony. I've heard they take a food percentage of their veterans over new students.
-Don't freak out just yet! We have three more months to do that!
Yess we'll see. Crossing my fingers atleast for an interview again!
I'll definitely look into Columbia's program!
I'm looking into other programs as well: Pace, Adelphi and Molloy. Possibly even looking at an Associates Degree program @ Suffolk or another community college. Also I saw St Josephs in Patchogue has a 2yr program as well.

Two years ago when I applied for the Accelerated Program, I believe the deadline was October 2nd and I received an interview email on October 6th.
