Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2016

Can we make this the official thread for The Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2016. Let's start posting questions and suggestions here.

Hello every want I applied for the accelerated nursing the last day ( 10/9/14) and my recommenders sent references yesterday. I' m so nervous right now. Do you guys think my application still have any chance to be evaluate.

I thought that references also needed to be received by the deadline.

I have spoken to a friend who's in the pre-nursing committee, and she have not heard anything ab interview. But i dnt know how valid her source is. So i called the admission this morning and this was their reply: "we're in the process of sorting documents as of now, and we will start the reviewing process starting this week".

I then asked: "will there be any interview?". And they answered: "it's POSSIBLE" that we will conduct an interview".

so there maybe or maybe not.

Interesting. At the info sessions they made it sound like it was definite. I guess we shall see!

how do you like program so far? I would like to hear your opinion.

Also when does the program start? ending of June? are classes everyday? do you get a break ever?

References did have to be in by the deadline. The application has to be complete with all parts for consideration.

Complicated question! It's hard to "like" an accelerated nursing program. It's a huge grind. I'm glad I'm here -- is that good enough of an answer? ;)

Classes and/or clinical are pretty much every day (M-F; some people have clinicals on Saturday or Sunday, depending on clinical site). We got a week off in August, which did not feel like enough at all! Happily, administration shifted our pharmacology class around so that we don't have to take it over the winter (as in previous years) -- we get winter term off, which is such a tantalizing treat in my near future!

Just got an email from Stony Brook saying "We expect to complete all file processing by November 1st". Hopefully they will let us know soon if we got accepted!

Got that too. I wonder if they will be doing interviews though...

Nicki12 that email is to inform us that supporting documents may take a little longer to show up in Solar. i dont think this is a review process, I think they started reviewing in order in which applications were submitted. They may start calling for interview this week or next week. But they did say there is alot of applicants which makes me nervous :confused:

I hope I am wrong and they start calling us sooner than November 1st. That part of the email that said a high volume of applications had me nervous too lol!

I know. I mean they usually have a high volume, but does this mean it's even higher than past years?????
