ok we ct. nurses are lagging behind in posting here. am hoping to read more from all of you in hopes of getting to know you. guess i will start things off.
i am an obgyn office nurse on the shoreline. i've been an lpn for 20 years now and love my office duties. the pregnant ladies are fun to work with but my real forte is the older ladies who show up every year for thier annuals.and putting people at ease during the exam (esp. 1st timers) gives me alot of satisfaction.it amazes me that in this modern time ,women still have major issues about paps and breast exams.i do my best to allay some of that on a daily basis.
as for me personally......i am married for 30 years and have 1 grown daughter.my fave thing to do is drive the car and sing along the way. i love music and vocalizing.when i am not online ,i can be found spending time with my family.we go boating, fishing, shopping and alot of birthday picnics.(one tomorrow as a matter of fact).
i would really like to get to know some of you.am interested in penpals and im's. since i don't sleep as well at night,i am up late hours alot.so please give a yell.at any rate connecticut....let's get this board more active.

nice to meet a fellow obgyn nurse from ct. i love the office side of this speciality. i love to get the young kids and the older ladies through this exam.....lord knows it is sometimes a traumatic event in our lives.
hope to see you around and maybe chat with you at some point.
i have been up and down the east coast,1st with my dad in the navy and then to virginia for 4 years with th dh. but we came back to ct. every time because we love it so. have thought off and on about going south again when we retire but have decided that we will have to rethink hurricane alley again after this season.i live in the southeastern part of ct. where will you come home to?undefinedundefined
I don't live in CT antmore ,but I am from CT. Glad I came across this forum . I,m from fairfield county. Raised there and got my first nursing job there (Stamford Hospital). moved away in 1993 mostly because I wanted to be someplace warm :chuckle Still have family and friends there and try to visit when I can. I have my RN now and work in Acute Psych.
Anyhow to the folks who will be going to CT your lucky. If I was to move to the mainland US again I would go to CT befor any place else.
hello to you new posters. i will gladly talk all day about connecticut and the great nurses and nursing students that are here. i often thought of retiring to someplace warmer when the time comes but this year i am thinking that florida is not the place . if i didn't love the ocean so ,i might consider arizona. but i have the feeling i will stay in my fave state til i die.
Hi,
I've lived here all 40yrs of my life! RN for 18yrs. Have done many different types of nurisng jobs, and trying to figure out what to do next. Have had a couple of job related injuries, and no longer can work critical care. I do have an interest in pre/post op ambulatory surgery. Doing Camp Nursing for the second summer, and would like to find a new RN position in September. Currently work per diem in LTC-which is awful!
Take care,
CJ
:behindpc: Hi all. I'm so glad to see this board and that there is a specific Connecticut board. I was recently accepted into the St. Vincent's "Extended Program". I will be taking Biology/Chemistry at HCC because it has been over 7 years since my last science class (sort of). After aceing those courses, I will start at St. V's in January 2006. I am 30 something and I hope that all of my brain cells will be fresh enough to retain all this new information.
I have already read most of your posts and I look forward to getting involved and getting to know all of you better in the future.
P.S. I welcome all advice and information. Thank you.

actually for a few weeks i was on xanax because i was freaking out. my b/p was 146/96. had some problems with an instructor and the director of the program. almost got thrown out this mod and last mod because the clinical instructor is a quack.
wednesday is my final exam for mod 4. we have an exam on neuro and gi. my class average is an 88, but am hoping i get a really good score on this final so maybe i can bump my final grade up to a 90.
one more mod left. woohoo!
