I am entering the nursing program and was looking at the Littmann Cardiology III or Littmann Master Cardiology stethoscope. I don't want to buy a cheap one then buy a better one later. Any suggestions on which one to buy...also, need help on buying a blood pressure unit.
Thanks ~ Cindy:confused:

I had a Littman II SE and couldn't hear too well with it. I switched to an Ultrascope and I love it. I can hear much better and as an added bonus, they are pretty cool looking :)

I'm starting nursing school this Fall. I have a Littmann Select. I haven't used it yet (as a student) but everyone tells me it's great:nuke:

hey,
i have a Littmann lightweight II S.E. stethoscope, i am starting nursing school this Sept. my sister is in going into her 3rd year and says she doesn't think this is the right one.
Is this a good one or do you recommend that i get another??? or should i wait until i have started and then try it out? I don't know what they are suppose to sound like or anything so i wont know the difference i guess.
Can someone tell me what they think the best thing to do is :)
I was going to go with the Lightweight SE but ended up buying a Select because I was able to buy it locally rather than online.
IMO, different scopes are going to work for different people. One that works best for you may not be one that works best for your sister. Unless your school has a specific scope that they want you to buy, then I would just wait until school starts and see how you like it. I don't think you can go wrong with a Littmann, though. All of the nurses I have asked say that Littmanns are the best.:)
thanks alot for your help, thats what i was thinking too, i was just gonna wait because i don't know the difference with them and i may end up buying another because it works for someone else and in the end both may end up not working for mem that would surely be a BUMMER but THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR ADVICE, GOODLUCK WITH SCHOOL BECAUSE FROM WHAT I AM SEEING WE BOTH ARE GONNA NEED IT

I own a Littmann Cardiology II and I love it, although it's a bit bulky at times. Got mine as a factory refurb. This model has the bell/diaphragm configuration, where the newer Cardiology III does not. The Littmann Classic IISE, the de-facto standard in stethoscopes (IMO), is a great all-around instrument, and would get someone thru most any educational program. Google for either by name and get the lowest prices.
