stethoscope problem

Im planning to buy stethoscope soon...I saw one in school's bookstore..you can get one in different color like pink, black, blue and purple...it cost 24.99 dolars, in the package its included; bandage scissors, pocket organizer, penlite. Its like a package deal. I dont know if I should buy it or it is a waste of money and I better invest in one of those better quality stethoscope...I need help.

Well, I don't *know* since I'm just a beginning nursing student, but my opinion is that it's probably worth investing in a better stethoscope. LOL a pink one sounds cute though!

Have you used a stehoscope in the past? If your already familiar with how to use one and are experienced the cute pink one would be fine. If your just starting out investing in a quality one would probably be your best bet> We used the cheap ones in AP doing B/P it was so hard to hear the sounds I know now I will get a good one. Litmen seems to be the brand of choice as this topic has come up before.

I agree with the above posters. I would recommend that you spend a wee bit more money and get a quality 'scope. I have been a Nurse for over 32 years and I have tired quite a few stethoscopes in my time. Check out this website:

Hey y'all. I just bought a stetoscope yesterday. I was wanting a lithman's but they are so expensive. I went to my local nursing store and tried out several different brands. I recommend that you do try the stethoscope out that you want, there is a BIG difference in each scope. I would of bought a lithman's online, untill I tried on almost every scope in the store. Don't get me wrong, they are great scopes but I heard better out of cardic prestige. The lady so it is the second best. It was seventy dollars cheaper and I heard better. I start nursing school on July 16th. I am not sure if the program gives you a scope but I doubt it will be any good. This way I hear everything. Hope this helps!

LOL, I have a cardiology III and it is not great. I am only thankful my job paid for mine because I would have been ticked to pay soooo much for one of these and it be as poor as it is.

$70 cheaper? the littman classic ii can be bought for around $60. ?

Just my opinion but, I tried on several styles of littman's and was not impressed.
