Stephen King Readers Thread

Published

So a recent thread got me thinking (which is never a good thing) It appears we have number of Stephen King Readers. I suggest we do a nursing DX for our favorite King Character!

BTW if you liked The Shining (Book not movie) you are going to love Dr. Sleep

Hppy

Thanks, I vaguely remember this. Time for another read.

To be honest, I read that when pregnant with my first child. I had horrible pregnancy-hormone induced nightmares and decided to stop reading Mr. King after THIS story.

Haven't read any of his books since.

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

I've been a Stephen King fan since my 20s. I wasn't fond of The Dark Tower though...not into fantasy. My favorite is The Stand. That Captain Trips stuff could really happen.

I couldn't get in to The Dark Tower either- the lobstrocities? Then I peeked at the spoilers and found out how it ended. Not impressed.

King is great with the foreplay, hit or miss with the payoff.

Disturbed Sleep Patterns R/T little bald doctors and auras.

Ralph Roberts, Insomnia.

Specializes in Family Medicine, Tele/Cardiac, Camp.

My favorite Stephen King book is Needful Things, but the one that really got under my skin is his short story "Survivor Type". You can find the entire text free online if you search it.

If you haven't read the story yet, spoiler down below...

I suppose my diagnosis of Richard Pine in "Survivor Type" would be something like "Insanity secondary to auto-cannibalism..."? (Although if you've read the story that might be a "what-came-first-the-chicken-or-the-egg" thing with a healthy dose of heroin abuse.) But, if memory serves, that's not REALLY a real nursing diagnosis...

Specializes in dealing w/code browns and blues.
I'm a SK lover too! I just started a leg tattoo sleeve with The Dark Tower.

"There are other worlds than these" is the quote I'm using. A raven, the rose and a compass (my personal addition). It's just outlines right now.

A pic may need to be posted when finished. That sounds like an awesome tattoo!

Is that the one where he rambles on about

"Ladyfingers, tastes just like ladyfingers right hand doesn't know what left is doing..."

I loved that story! And was totally creeped out as I haven't read it in probably 10-15 years but still remember lines. Lol!
