STCC 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else is trying to get into STCC this fall for Nursing? I'm finishing up prereqs now, and just took the HESI. I scored an 85, but want to take it again to see if I can get my score up even higher. I have a 4.0, so I'm hoping that as long as my midterm grades are A's/B+'s I'll be OK.

Ok so they probably haven't decided for u yt.

Thanks and good luck to you :)

Just got my letter today, so excited!!!!:)

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to all that have been accepted. I know you are all probably busting with questions so I will try and help if I can. I am an STCC nursing student. I remember being so excited last year this time and I remember how helpful it was to have the advice from an a student in the program. If I can make one suggestion it is to have patience. The faculty are very busy helping seniors prepare for graduation and the freshman still have 2 more exams ahead. The selection process is very frustrating and the reason some do not have letters is because they accept in stages. They have their A draft so to speak, B draft and then the wait list. Not everyone gets accepted at the same time and the criteria for selection is still unclear. I have my own thoughts about the process but it's just my thoughts. Some of my classmates didn't get off the wait list until a few days before class in September.

hey everyone, sorry I haven't been on in a while here, but trying to finish up lots of work for end of semester. I got my acceptance package in the mail on Monday. Can't wait to meet everyone!:nurse:

Hi 2012forme. Wow that would be even more stressful If I'd have to wait till just before next semester to find out. About how many people made it of the wait list and how many where on it? I have a 3.0 but I'm sure its the math that I'm taking that's holding me back on the wait list.

O ur taking algebra 2 now?

I really don't get the selection process at all lol. I have a friend with a 4.0 and a 90 something on the Hesi who still hasn't heard anything, where as I know someone else with an equivalent Hesi grade and a 3.6 GPA and she's already been accepted! So wierd, and really doesn't make any sense.

I can't even imagine having to run around and get everything done if you are only selected a few days before class starts haha...

Also in the admission packet their is a checklist.. and they tell you to email parking and and someone about the cpr course.. my cpr is about to expire anyway so I was figuring I'd just retake it now, but neither of the email addresses they have listed work!

Thanks 2012forme! It was very nice of you to share that information with everyone, considering how busy you must be!!!:heartbeat:nurse:

I'm not too sure about the numbers on the wait list vs getting in, they don't really share too much of that with the students. I think age has a lot to do with it. I know a lot of us 30-40 somethings got accepted much faster than some of the younger ones did.

Latebloomer,

Yes we are real busy, lots of maternity in the second semester. We have our 3 rd exam on the 5th of May and our final on the 12th. Back to the books for me :-)

Hi 2012forme, in the first semester do we have clinical?
