Hi, I was just wondering if there were any other students (or alumni or instructors) from Springfield Technical Community College on here.
I have never heard anything about a specific GPA, I personally have a 4.0. I know at our orientation they said everone who was accepted qualified for the honors program which means everyone had a 3.5 then. I do know that your science grades like A&P are looked at much more closely than some of the other classes, as well as passing the HESI. Are you a current STCC student?
i am so excited for tomorrow yet scared out of my mind!!! i finished the first week's reading and did the study guide thingy, but havent started the second week's yet. is that a bad thing you think? im gunna bring a notebook for tomorrow, but other than that i dunno haha. see u guys sooon!

I don't think it's such an bad thing to only get the first week done. In fact, it's great. I may be wrong, but we may not get this type of advance later on to get ahead on reading. I feel it helps us to see just how much reading is required of us each week and to help us get used to it for the rest of our two years in Nursing school. As well as alleviating a little bit of pressure off us at least in the beginning.
I had wondered how much others have read too. I read the first week's and have almost finished 1/2 of the second (in the middle of chapter 25). However, I did only the first two chapter's study guide. I figured I will go through through them later as an refresher of what I read after we discuss those chapters in lecture.
I've read the first week too, though I kinda just skimmed the a few as they were a lot of review from human growth. I've started reading the chapters for next week too. I figured since I had the time I might as well get a jump on stuff. I've done some of the workbook but like nursingstudent10 I planned on going back when we went over it in class.
WOW about 12 hours to go! See you guys soon!!
I'm excited, but also nervous about all that we have to do. It seems that we are jumping right into everything. I mean, even with clinical. I have read here that some students start clinical off with just having an conversation with an patient to work on communication skills. Obviously, we're doing much more then this. It will be a lot of work, but an fantastic experience I am sure. And, it seems everyone is very motivated to get everything they need done.
I know none of you know me, but I was wondering if anyone had lab Thursday and was willing to let me borrow their stethoscope for Friday??? I ordered from allheart and have not even so much as gotten an shipping number! It was placed the 15th of August. I'm actually on the phone now trying to reach them, but am on hold for close to an hour now! If all else fails, I will go buy one from the bookstore. But rather not if it's coming soon. NEVER BUY FROM ALLHEART, their shipping times lie.
Hi everyone. I want to hear more about your first week. I am sure you are all busy with just starting but please share when you can.
I had my first micro class on wed. The instructor is awesome, great sense of humor and personality. I have someone else for lab. She seems super nice too, maybe almost too nice.
can i please remind you not to post names of instructors as per terms of service
please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

Hi everyone, I talked with them and they said if you took CPR at STCC you do not need to turn in a copy Jonathan Miller already did that for us. I am so excited as I am sure everyone else is. I am going to bring a notebook, couple pens, a copy of the schedule they gave us and the reading list (in case they make any changes) I am going to bring my new PDA phone too, but I must admit I am not yet used to putting stuff in it yet. Oh, and I am going to bring a few bottles of water and snacks in case I get hungry...lol!
