Hi, I was just wondering if there were any other students (or alumni or instructors) from Springfield Technical Community College on here.
Hi! I'm a 1989 STCC nsg graduate. Currently in Florida. Am considering moving back to MA in a few years, when my son graduates from high school. STCC prepared me very well. I've also been Gerontology Certified for over 10 yrs. The nsg program IS demanding, but it's worth it. My class was in demand several months before our graduation date. The STCC Nsg program is VERY HIGHLY regarded by prospective employers. I "took" the full course load in 4 semesters, with the exception of Microbiology in the summer between the 2nd and 3rd semesters. it was 17-18 credits per semesters, but I did it!!!! It's HARD WORK, but it CAN be done. By the way, I took NO prerequisites before entering the program. Good luck to all of you.
I took micro this past spring, the lab manual is only sold at STCC since the teachers designed it to gear towards their classes. I'm not sure what book they use, I honestly didn't buy it. I'll see if I can find my old syllbus (sp?) and I'll give you the name!
Thanks booklmb for the words of encourgement. It's good to know the program is so highly regarded by employers. Things there are a lot different now, you have to do pre-req's to even be considered.
Hey Everyone,
Just an FYI: I called the bookstore yesterday and they still have not received the scrubs! It's going to be madness when 107 of us show up at the start of the semester and have to fight over what's been ordered. Hopefully there will be enough sizes so everyone gets what they need!
haha yeah it will be. thanks for the update!! i went a few weeks ago and picked through the left overs/returns of the scrubs and found scrub pants that hopefully fit (i should probably try them on haha). They also had the kits we are supposed to buy but the price wasn't set yet so I couldn't buy that. The bookstore is going to be packed with us AND the other hundreds of students on the first day back!
Question for you ladies. I am looking at the nursing schedule for the first semester to just get an idea of what I am looking at for a possible schedule for when I do get in. I understand the thur and friday class from 10 to noon and then the lab classes on mon and tue from 7 to 12 and 8 to 12. I also see the nursing freshmen seminar but what is the 2 hour classes for on wed or thursdays? It says Lab so is it just an additional lab class you need to go along with the one's on mon and tue?
