I am finished with my class...I take the state test tomorrow. I'm in Iowa. We have to do handwashing and communicatiuon and then 5 other skills. I am afraid I will forget to do something on one of the skills. I am going to practice some tonight and tomorrow. I have the test at 3. I have to pass it! WHat are the chances that I wont? I have 2 job interviews on tuesday. And I really need the work. Hoping for a good job! Thanks for any advice. Thank you

Good luck to you. Remember to do relaxation exercises during the test, deep breathing and visualization. You will be ok.

first off...good luck tomorrow!!!! i just took my state test this past friday and passed!!! so my advice for you is to definitely relax, breathe, and try to picture a resident from clinicals in front of you...stop and think about what to do first and what to do next for that resident to get the best care. i know your nervous...because let me tell you, i thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest but i stopped and took a deep breath and remembered how i took care of my residents. you'll do great!
oh and i'm from indiana and my skills were: handwashing, assist to edge of bed, assist to chair, brush hair, and unoccupied open bed.
YEp I think that visualizing a resident from clinicals is a good idea. I may be taking a lot of deep breaths today! Just so excited that its almost over! I just hope I am not going to get anything hard like catheter care or assisting with the bedpan. I mess up when I do both! Just when I have to put a towel under to wash the peri site and when you are supposed to take a glove off when you are cleaning up after using the bedpan...not too comfortable with those skills. Just hope I do enough to get by. Thanks for the encouragement!

Well, I am in Kentucky. And it sounds like the test is similar in Iowa. Just practice tonight and don't worry so much. I thought the test was extremely easy and everyone in my class passed it. You will do fine. Good luck!

That is right..breathe and just relax, I live in Michigan and I took my test last week Tuesday and passed..I thought that I was going to crap in my scrubs..the examiners know that we are nervous when taking the exam so don't worry about it...my examiner was REALLY nice and she told me that they know it's nerve recking and they truly understand!..but they ALWAYS look for knock first, introduce self, identify the patient, close curtain for privacy..those are universal skills so remember that no matter what, those can help your points..Good Luck to you!!
...oh also don't also is the handwashing
I passed! Yay! It helped that I knew the evaluater. She was the nurse that did clinicals with us. That worked in my favor because she knows I know my skills I just need more experience. Anyways yay! I have 2 job interviews tomorrow. One at the place I did my clinicals and the other at another LTC facility.
Congratulations and good luck on your job interviews!
