Don't have any update.. Just applied for different schools now.. been on the waiting list.. and the waiting period is like years.. I think Im going to apply for LVN while waiting for the school that's going to be available.. Let's pray! Everything will be fine! :)

-cant focus-cant review-still waiting for the response from the board.. I'm just wondering,what are the chances of us(philippine graduates) to have an att?? Cause ive read a lot of threads and a lot of them is being denied..thanks alot

unfortunately, after i got my att after my problem with my psychiatric deficiency, i failed and i had another problem which is affecting all the filipino graduates right now and noone has been able to be eligible yet. i'm having problems with the concurrency of my clinical duties and theories.

i am already in the process of applying in nevada. nevada's less strict. i just dont want to fight anymore. we all finished a 4 year course and read those thick nursing books and made nursing care plans and woke up early or stayed up all night for out clinical duties, why would you want to insist yourself who keeps on pushing you away? that's what i feel like with california, that he does not like me. so i'd look for a boy who would want me and that's nevada. haha.

i prayed and thought of what is right for me. my whole family is in california. but i've had so many problems along the way, its been a year now, and i just felt like something's telling me that i should try for another state. you can face all the rejections which can affect your mojo, your studies and your ego or you can choose one of the many states in america. that's what i'm doing.

if any filipino ever gets an att, well, that's great but from the looks of it, noone is getting it and there is a very slim chance that someone will get it.

hi, im a Filipina too and I just got my mail yesterday from California BON that says the same thing "that they determined that not all aspect of my theory and clinical training meet the requirements in medical surgical and obstetrics. And reflects that some and/or all clinical cases were not completed during the same semester." So how did u resolve it?I'm really disappointed about this. always remember guys, you have finished a four year course in nursing, and i'll mention again, some analysts are not updated yet about the difference of the california curriculum with foreign countries. they're not supposed to evaluate your education using the california curriculum.
do not give up. do not enroll in a college and study for 1 year just for the deficiency. because i myself was in the situation and fought for my right to be eligible without needing to enroll to nursing school here in the us.
you just have to ask the right questions and clarfiy things with your evaluator, ask her about what you lack, and always be respectful when you talk to your analyst. do not act all knowing but make sure that you get to your point.
remember, my fellow filipinos. if your college is indeed accredited, then our nursing curriculums are all the same. it is mandated by the bon and ched. so whatever i studied, whatever other filipinos took to become eligible, is what you also took.
so you are eligible, the same way i am and the others are..

from the looks of it, i see that this problem is because of one evaluator. but i cannot mention her name her, i mentioned it before, but according to the terms and conditions of this forum, we aren't allowed to mention names.

anyways for those asking, yes i was able to get past my eligibility issue on the psych deficiency, but after which i was asked about cases, which i was denied in. cases have to be concurrent with theory. and as we all know, that is impossible in the philippines. hence, i gave up with my cali application and decided to apply in nevada.

here are the steps i took:

it took 2 to 3 months all in all.

[color=#333333]1. ordered cgfns-ces online. $335. you can choose to have the $500 expedited one, you'll have results in 10 days. i just took the regular one.

[color=#333333]2. corresponded with my school so they can forward my transcript and breakdown of hours in my subjects needed by cgfns.

[color=#333333]3. livescan fingerprinting $65. and mailed my application downloaded from the nevada brn website. $100

[color=#333333]4. scheduled my english proficiency exam. i took the toefl $175. you can also take ielts. i chose toefl because i have to wait 2 months for the next available date in ielts, while with toefl i was able to take it in a week.

[color=#333333]5. afterwhich cgfns notified me that my credentials were already sent to nv brn, i contacted the board and asked about my application.

[color=#333333]6. they said im eligible and told me to pay $200 at pearsonvue.com/nclex whenever im ready. once you pay, you're required to take it within 3 months.

@ Starleviosa....what happened to your friend that did get the ATT after you were denied yours later? Did this person pass the NCLEX? I'm asking because you used a good idea of saying the same person who went to school with the same courses was able to her ATT and it presented no problems with the CA BON.

I'm trying to help an overseas friend for awhile now and if we can use that same idea, maybe she might have get a chance to get her ATT.

I sounded so desperate, but honestly it feels like I really am desperate. My mind is nonstop thinking of what to do next just to keep going forward rather than bein stuck and not knowing what to do.Taking the nevada nclex is the most convincing option for me but of course i dont wana spend stack of cash if itll be nothing. My concerns are if ca honor reciprocity from what ive read countless threads they said that you still have to take the ca licensure by endorsement wherein you still have give ca brn the breakdown of education back in the philippines. So this really worries me. Hmmmm

You're reading this thread because you're probably afraid of being denied by the CA BON for the concurrency issues or you have been denied already and you're looking for another way to be licensed.

You can do 2 things:

1. Go back to school in an accredited program in CA

2. Apply for licensure in another state

You can go for 1 if you don't mind going back to school and you have the money time and effort.

You can go for 2 if you want to be licensed and finally work as an RN but is willing to relocate.

I opted for 2. I applied for Nevada. It's longer, you have to take toefl and go by cgfns but it's not as strict.

The only down side is that there's no job opening for new grads. It's so hard to get a job.

So my advice this time around:

Apply for licensure in one of the compact states, NV is not one of them.

If you apply for licensure for Tennessee for example you can also work at other states which is a member of the compact states.

And it's actually less hassle because you don't need toefl or ielts anymore.

And when I searched online states, those states actually have job openings in hospitals for new grads!

Boo, so if I would do it again or if I have known this, I would have applied for licensure in one of the compact states rather than NV. Passing nclex is half the battle, getting a job is the harder part.
