Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello... this is my 1st thread/post in here... i always read posts but dont share information but now i really need some advice or help.... i graduated nursing in the philippines(2007) but didnt take the board. after graduation i migrated here in the US and didnt take nclex...(stupid of me). i pick the wrong direction and joined the army instead.. now im out of the army and want to continue my nursing... i applied nclex in california but got denied... they want me to take 1 course to be able to take the exam... ive asked some school if i can take that subj but nobody wont let me... now we moved here in Kansas and tried applying for the board but they said i need to retake the whole nursing program for me to take nclex because its been 5 years... anybody know any state with different rules from kansas?

I checked their website, they don't mention any requirement as to till when after graduation foreign nurses can sit for nclex. Cgfns for ny bon took a year! Now finally they forwarded my report to ny.! Phew! And now ny is taking forever to review my documents... hence, i am super anxious if they will qualify me for nclex.

hi! i have been out of school for almost ten years now. i have previously applied for Ca BON like 5 years ago and got denied because of concurrency issue. I've decided to give another try. im looking for states that are not affected by the concurrency issue. im choosing between NY and Hawaii BON. i hope they will let me take the test despite of being out of school for ten years now. how was your experience applying for NY BON? if you dont mind sharing your experience,.

try hawaii my friend got her att after declining her application in texas

Hawaii quick and easy. $40 application fee

Hi Juniper1! I am just curious if NY allowed you to take the nclex being 10yrs post graduate? Coz I am in the same situation and planning to apply also.

Please share, thank you.

I m in the same boat. NCLEX after 6 years of graduation. Declined by Texas board of nursing

Good Luck to you all

If they do try Hawaii.

Yes, they did. Sent me my approval letter first week of Drcember. Tested on the 28th, waiting for my results all anxious... I have a feeling that i passed, or may be i failed... It could go either way. Test stopped at 75, seemed unbelievably easy! That's the reason i have a doubt that may be i failed...i am going nuts! Will let you guys know :-)

I know this post is old, but Im stressing in the same situation. Ive heard there are loopholes where some states have yearly limit on testing. So here is my question, may be silly... If you are approved to take NCLEX in Hawaii, do you actually have to travel to Hawaii to test? Or can you test in your state (for HI) &then your license is from HI & will need to be transferred? Please help!

Yes, you can take NCLEX in any state and be licensed in HI. The problem is that some (most?) states require XXX hours working to get a license by endorsement in their state (except new grads). That would require you to work in HI and build up hours before applying for a license by endorsement in another state.

somebody was posting about this on another thread and it included new grads. If I'm remembering it correctly it was Georgia who wouldn't give a license by endorsement until the applicant had something like a thousand hours of paid RN work. I'm guessing it was to keep out people who had failed to get a license through the Georgia BON, hadn't met the standards they set out and had just gotten a license from a state with reduced requirements.

If other states do this then it's important to know so we don't have people living in Georgia or wherever with a Maryland license and therefore unable to work where they live and so on.
