Starting WGU RN-MSN Education program 3/1/13

Anyone starting with me??

Hello, I'm in the process of applying to the program. My application advisor was telling me that the program is two and half years to earn the BSN. Is that so?

Like others have said, the BSN can be done in a much shorter time. It seems that most people are able to finish in two terms (12 months). I finished my BSN in 3 terms/18 months, and it seems that I was one of the slower paced people. I took the minimum number of credits required each term (12), but definitely could have finished in 2 term if I had gone at a faster pace and had worked more steadily.

Wow! That's awesome. Thanks for the encouragement! You sure you're just not an exceptional person or genious? What about the Pre-Nursing Curriculum/ the first six month period, that's supposedly the pre-admissions period?

It depends on your pace. It took me six months to finish my BSN and 9 months for my MSN. It doable. You can do it! I work fulltime and did it and so can you. By the way, I am a mother of two too....single parent.

I'm starting the IT program hopefully in March if my old school sends in my transcripts in time. I have several friends who want to get their BSN and I have been recommending WGU. I'm excited to start. It will be completely different from nursing but I would love to be able to get an IS job for the healthcare company I currently work for. I wish I would have known about WGU years ago. I would have gotten my BSN from there instead of sitting in a classroom trying to stay awake after working a night shift.

I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps! I'm just about to submit my practicum and (fingers crossed) when it passes I'm officially done with the BSN in 6 months. Then onto my MSN in education! Would love to finish that in 9 months but a year is okay too.

I had 4 prerequisite classes...nutrition, biochem, math and a research paper class. In the end, I will have completed 35 credits in 6 months. I had an extra BSN class because I transferred to the MSN track midterm.

Just remain focused. Don't wait on a task to come back to start another. Just keep going. You will be done before you know it.

I currently am in the RN-MSN-Education Program. I finished my BSN and 5 of my MSN classes in 12 months. I had to take biochem and nutrition my first term and it wasn't that bad. I am now on track to finish my MSN August 31, 2013!! Which means 2 years total for my RN-MSN program which is much faster than I could have done it anywhere else. I also worked full time and can be a huge procrastinator so my mentor has a tough job to keep me on the straight and narrow finishing my tasks on time. :)
