Join the club of us clueless, anxious and nervous first semester nursing students! I plan on going over A and P and dosage calc, but until orientation next week I have NO IDEA what to expect.

I'm a ball of emotions ranging from excited to anxious to nervous to wondering whatever possessed me to do this to myself! But, I can't imagine myself doing anything else, so I'm more anxious to get started on what I know I'm meant to do. My classes start August 28, soooooooooo I'm eagerly counting down the days, too!

[/quote']Exactly! I have a feeling at orientation I will be saying to myself, "And you willingly signed up for this ???" But many have gone before us!!! My orientation is monday, from 8-12, classes start the 26th. Excited beyond measure. Today is nice and rainy so beautiful won't distract me and I'm planning to start on my A & P review and dosage calc review.

At least you have something to do on campus- we've already had two mini orientations, if that's even what they're meant to be called. We had two information sessions, one of which was to go over registration, which we then registered in March. Then, we had another the week of finals to go over summer/clinical requirements. We even ordered our scrubs during spring semester. In a way, I'm glad we've already done everything, but it'd be nice to have some more information before we start. We had a few e-mails so far this summer, but mainly to go over CertifiedBackground ().
Other than that, I have no idea when my scrubs will be in, or where to show up on the first day of classes because we have a brand new SON building that is expected to be ready for us in 22 days.

Certfied background is the !!!!!! Thank God I have that behind me! Some people in my program had still not finished their clinical requirements for CB by the deadline of Aug 2. I have no idea if they were then disqualified or not. I have no idea about my scrubs either. They are all sent to the school. I'm not gonna stress that though because we won't need them til clinicals start a few weeks into the semester. Not knowing what room to go to....... that would stress me out! I'd say once your building is done and you have been sent the email about what classroom you are in, make a trip there beforehand so you know where to go. On our school's website the classroom number is listed with the course in the catalog so maybe they will have room numbers updated soon for you.
Thank you for your feedback!
I am so nervous, I went to my campus today and organized everything so I'm relived and excited to start on Monday! :)

Wow you are starting early! Let us know how it goes! At my orientation we didn't learn much more than we already knew from our stduent handbook, but we did get our clinical assignment sites.

Yeah, the nerves have kicked in! I am glad that I'll know some of the students in the program, as we've gone through some of the pre-req's together. That, I think, helps when I nervously picture walking into the building the first day. (Where do I go? Where do I sit? Who do I partner up with in lab?) But there was a group of us that have been together as a solid study group for the last 18 months and we've separated now, some going to another local program, some going into the respiratory program on the same campus, and one on the wait list. I've gotten really close to a few of those girls, and friendly with the rest, and I'm going to miss our camaraderie and group work ethic. We all really worked well together, and I'm going to miss that as well as the mutual support we gave one another throughout these classes.

That first week you're going to feel like a deer in headlights. Don't worry you'll get the hang of the crazy routine quickly enough, plus everyone in your cohort feels the same way because it's their first day too.
I'll be starting my 4th and final semester in 2 weeks and I'm super excited to finally be this far. I'm glad I blogged about my semesters for myself so that I can look back and see how weird I felt compared to today where I'm roaring and ready to get this show on the road!
