starting LPN program in Aug 2011..anyone else?

Published

HI!

Im currently accepted into a LPN program in missouri. I was supposed to attend this August and graduate 11 months later but I found out I was pregnant and deferred acceptance to next year. Which Im kind of glad I did because they changed their program hours..and the new hours suit me better because Im an hour away from school.

Previous schedule was monday - thursday 7am-4pm 11 month program

New schedule is Monday - Friday 8-4pm August to December then Jan - June Monday and Tuesday 7-4pm for clinicals , Wed and Thursday 8-4pm and 10 scheduled friday's 8-4pm 10 month program.

The total cost is a few hundred short of $10,000..which is almost double what a CC would charge me..but their pass rates for the boards are a lot better.

Im really excited to start ....i've put nursing school off for long enough...went straight to college after high school...and was one semester away from applying and I quit school...very stupid of me.

Once I graduate I'll bridge over to an RN program and then hopefully from there do an online RN to BSN program. Because of my past personal experience with infertility I would eventually like to end up in a Womens Health clinic/Ob Gyn office that has infertility services or in a Reproductive Endocrinologists office working with IVF patients.

anyone else looking to start next fall? are you taking any classes right now? Im currently finishing up AP..and plan on taking Dev Psych next semester.

Congrats! I am waiting for the interview process but WHEN i pass that interview(very cofident lol) i will be starting school in July of 2011...it was in March but they pushed it back further because we didnt have enough people test

i went to college right after highschool and quit just like you..worked two years in a hospital and got pregnant..now my baby is 2 years old and its just about time that i go back. I'm super excited and want to buy all my things already. I currently work as a CNA but can't wait to do more!!

I just got my letter of acceptance today (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!). I will be starting August 2011 also. Congratulations to you on starting. Better late than never.

I'm seriously thinking about applying for the LPN program for this fall. I was in the ADN program back in 2009 but didn't make it. Congradulations to you all.

congrats to everyone!!

well I haven't been accepted yet, but I have applied for August 2011 entrance. I am finishing up my A & P classes this semester and the acceptance/denial letters go out at the end of June. Congrats on being accepted and good luck to you!!:yeah:

I am also taking A&P this semester. How are you all doing with that class? After this are you done with your co-reqs?

my program didnt have any pre or co reqs, but Im still working on what I need to have done for my BSN.

this semester im taking micro, dev psych, and computers.

Specializes in My goal is to be an Oncology Nurse.....

Howdy!

Congrats all!! I attend a small private school in Northern Indiana for my ADN and didn't pass last Fall. Actually I am glad that I didn't pass. I am actually going for my LPN and I am very very happy with that!!! :yeah: It's not that I couldnt handle the material, I found it fascinating, but I could not get the help that I asked for, the gobs of DRAMA and BACKSTABBING by students and staff and not to mention the 475 a cr hr to top it off! All of this was soooo frustrating, that I decided to look into other schools and found one that is perfect for my learning style and I can't wait to start in the fall! I went for my interview 2 weeks ago and heard this week that I should be having my follow up very soon!!!!!!:lol2: I also want to go on for my bridge to RN but I want to get some experience under my belt before I do that.

Yea for Us!!

:D

I got my acceptance for Aug 2011 last week! So excited! I am doing the LPN program through a Community College in WA State. I hope to bridge over to RN soon after as well. I'm very excited, but nervous! I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) Congratulations to you all if you made it too! Its hard work and you should be proud of yourself.

Hi. I want to try cna course before i enter the rn/bsn. I am so afraid to become another patient. I fear that I will not be able to handle vomit or the smell of poop. I have no kids and no training like my sisters. I love nursing but those 2 things are stoping me from entering this beautiful world. My friends tell me that I will get used to it. Have you ever, yourself, or seen anybody else run out of a patients room for what I just mentioned?

no one really likes the smell... i became a cna at the age of 18 because my mother told me that " if i couldnt be a cna i had no business being a nurse" so thats what I did eventhough i didnt want to..it really helped though.... about the smells... breathe through your mouth...thats my best advice
