HI!

Im currently accepted into a LPN program in missouri. I was supposed to attend this August and graduate 11 months later but I found out I was pregnant and deferred acceptance to next year. Which Im kind of glad I did because they changed their program hours..and the new hours suit me better because Im an hour away from school.

Previous schedule was monday - thursday 7am-4pm 11 month program

New schedule is Monday - Friday 8-4pm August to December then Jan - June Monday and Tuesday 7-4pm for clinicals , Wed and Thursday 8-4pm and 10 scheduled friday's 8-4pm 10 month program.

The total cost is a few hundred short of $10,000..which is almost double what a CC would charge me..but their pass rates for the boards are a lot better.

Im really excited to start ....i've put nursing school off for long enough...went straight to college after high school...and was one semester away from applying and I quit school...very stupid of me.

Once I graduate I'll bridge over to an RN program and then hopefully from there do an online RN to BSN program. Because of my past personal experience with infertility I would eventually like to end up in a Womens Health clinic/Ob Gyn office that has infertility services or in a Reproductive Endocrinologists office working with IVF patients.

anyone else looking to start next fall? are you taking any classes right now? Im currently finishing up AP..and plan on taking Dev Psych next semester.

Wow Congrats to everyone!

I just was accepted into the LPN program and will be starting July 11 2011

I am currently a CNA..but i didnt pay for the class..I applied at a nursing home and they paid for the classes and the exam. I am still working for them and its been a year and a half :)

I just graduated LPN school last month! I went in Tennessee. You should look into WIA, the workers investment act. IT PAID FOR MY ENTIRE PROGRAM! I know they have it here in Tennessee as well as in Kentucky and Alabama. Call your local unemployment office!

As for those of you afraid of smells, wear a mask with either an alcohol pad or vicks vapo rub inside. Also, a little bowl of vinegar under the patient's bed soaks up odors! I don't know how.... but it works!

Congrats on graduating last month! Can you tell us how the semester went? i dont mind the smells or anything. Im just afraid that i will forget meds or bomb a test. And i'm not sure if lpn's draw blood but i have volunteers here at home that said they will assist me with practice.

what part of the year do you learn how to do that stuff? in the beginning few months?

thank you for any information you can tell me

It was really hard, I did okay on my tests, the only one I failed was cardiac in A&P and I failed it by a point. I think it helped that my boyfriend supported me. I don't think I could have done it if I worked. In our entire class we only had one girl who worked. Everyone else quit their jobs because it was so intense. I studied about five hours a night. We had a test just about every single day.

LPNs do draw blood, not all of us got to practice that. What skills you get to practice all depend on how good your clinical sites are. About half of the class got to draw blood this year.

We did practice starting IVs on each other, that happened during the skills section which was during the first trimester. I also took an IV therapy certification class the week after graduation and we went to the hospital and only stuck IVs. To me, that was the hardest part. I cried because it took me 7 attempts before I finally got one in successfully.

As far as missing meds, if your instructor is at all concerned about her own license... she will be checking behind you very closely to make sure you are not making any med errors. You will be working under her license the entire time so I would not worry too much about that right now.

Thank You so much for replying to my questions! I've already decided that i would work every other weekend..maybe. but there will be no way in the world that i would be able to work and study that long for a test! I have a two year old who is alot of work but i believe i can get through the program because i am doing it for the both of us :)

The whole iv therepy cert is a good idea! If i can do more than i want to take whatever class i can to help it

thank you again

I'm Starting In July !!!
