Happy New Year everyone!!!

Is anyone like me starting Excelsior in 2011? My goal is to complete my ADN by June/July 2011.

I'm ready to get the ball rolling and get it done in 2011. I'm starting with H&S and then Transitions.

Best of luck to all starting school in the New Year. :)

Thank you all for your responses!! Encouragement and support will keep us moving forward. We can do this!! :)

I'm here with y'all! Took H&S today and got an A!

Does EC accept VA LPN now?

Yes, check post No. 1.

I need some SERIOUS motivation, so this thread may just help with that! My official transcripts are ready to mail with the application to EC, and my desk has a big stack of study materials that I have begun to accumulate. Getting started is tough! So many of you have a LOT more going on than me, so I have no excuses! :uhoh3:

you can see my progress with dates in my signature...it IS hard to get started, and it will take you the first test or two to see exactly what works for YOU! BUT the important thing is to just jump in. There are a lot of ways to study, some people buy the studygroup 101 notes, me- that didnt work, i dont like to ready someone elses notes- so i got the textbooks, i'm also an audio/visual leaner so RNBridgeProgram.com - LPN to RN Bridge Program | Parmedic to RN Bridge Program | this helped me out alot too. First thing first though, print off the EC free content guide for the exam you are working out...take out your planner or calendar or phone and set yourself some "due dates' of when you want each section completed by...this way you can figure out when you want to take the final exam as well...the first two exams i put an ending date for 6wks after i started, the first exam i took a week early, and the second one i took two months later due to life/work/nerves you name it...then after that i decided that I HAD to be comeplete before June 2011 so i buckled down used rnbridgeprogram and my textbooks and i started testing every 2-3 wks...so it CAN be done! good luck to you all! and welcome aboard!

I'm a visual leaner as well. Tasha, can the videos/lessons be downloaded on to your computer or do you have to view them on their website? Thanks:)

Sorry, I was tired when I wrote the above message.

The program is great, I really like it... I know you are nervous but you will do great...... now you mentioned you have to meet with an advisor? I hope it's not one of the TCN or College Network "advisor" if you need info you can always call Excelsior don't spend extra money for things you don't need. Please be careful with those so called "advisors"

Hello Everyone,

I am just beginning also. I am scheduled for H&S in Feb. Having a time getting through the material.

So I wouldn't procrastinate I have enrolled so that I can place myself on a time line.

Hey Tony...I wish my VAMC used the VANEEP. They have stopped participating in the program.

Study Plan:

I don't do well with "others" notes, I am doing the EC study guide, and I purchased used recommended text books. I have also found a few nursing lectures online. I have stayed away from any publishing companies.

It would be nice to learn how others are studying for the exams?

Glad to be doing this FINALLY, everytime I considered EC I would talk myself out of it.....this time....I just signed up and stopped trying analyze every little detail....and here I am. :)

I look forward to studying with you all....Good luck.

Congrats for taking the leap and getting started. I'm also taking H&S in Feb. I'm just following the EC content guide and doing the recommended reading using the required textbooks. I just read the chapters and make notes as I go along. I will purchase the practice exams soon so I get an idea of what the actual test will be like. Good luck!:)

Another Excelsior bound person for 2011 woo hoo! =) I applied last week and I just sent my transcript yesterday so I'm waiting on an official review for the Gen Ed classes. I definitely know I'll have to take Micro so that or Transitions will be next for me.
