Starting Capella for BSN....

Nursing Students Online Learning

Updated:   Published

I will be starting Capella Flexpath to complete my BSN on 9/14.  I have to be honest at 48 years old I am a little nervous to go back to school.  I finished nursing school 10 years ago. (I have previous degrees from my first career).  So it's been awhile.  I am a little nervous about APA format and power point presentations but I suppose it is all part of the learning process!  Also the "quarter credits" are a little confusing to me.  My employer will cover up to 9 credits per year so I am wondering how that will translate.

Just curious to hear some positive and encouraging stories from those who are currently in the program or have completed it.

Thanks in advance!

I know this post is a little old, but I plan on starting in March (waiting on transcripts!) and I would love to get it done as quick as possible. It's great to hear that this is possible & that I don't have to be committed to another year of school. I plan to go right on for my masters, do you suggest continuing with Capella for this as well? And that's also great to know about the discount. The way you did it makes it so affordable! Did you do this while working?

Hopefully I’m using the right account I just realized I have 2 allnurses accounts ??‍♀️ . I’m enjoying the masters program because it’s the same set up and only having to write papers is nice for me because I don’t have to spend time studying for exams. It’s super affordable and yes I work full time. At my job currently I do 3 days a week with 15hour shifts.

For research I basically just try to Google in the research bank each part of the score sheet. Sorta like find common words from the score sheet and find research based on those. I’ve also tried to correlate my papers with my speciality when possible because it makes it easier for me to not only understand but to also explain in my papers. I hope I made sense ☺️

This is very helpful! Thank You!

Is anyone doing Capella RN-BSN program in California? Is it accredited in California because I cannot find the school name on the BRN site list of RN-BSN schools

https://www.RN.ca.gov/education/rntobsn.shtml#resources

I graduated with my ADN in May, passed NCLEX in August, and I am looking to go straight for my BSN.... Is Capella friendly for students with little experience in nursing?

I believe the list on the BRN website is only for programs originated in the state of CA.

I see other schools from other states on there though, like Arizona State University, Arkansas State University, and etc. So I am not sure why Capella from Minnesota would be left out, and it makes me wonder if a BSN from Capella would be accepted by Californian employers where I'm living

Specializes in psychiatric, corrections.

I got my MSN from Capella. I graduated with a 3.96. Capella is not a hard school if you just follow the rubric. I have an MSN so I dunno about the BSN program but the MSN was a lot of paper writing, so you do have to be up to snuff with APA.

I’m right there with ya!! Received my congratulatory email from Capella just today!?

Hello everyone, I am looking to attend Capella for my BSN through the flex path. Can anyone tell me which prerequisites are needed before taking the core classes.

Thank you in advance?

Hello, I completed Capella’s RN - BSN program in 9 weeks. Only the 8 core courses. I completed one course a week. Subscribe to the facebook Capella group, It helped a lot. A lot of students suggested Fair/Easy teacher to take and teachers to avoid. Be prepared to write anywhere from 4-5 papers per class on average 8-9 pages. Some PowerPoint presentation some visual presentation in audio presentation. The program is great, no discussion boards, no exams. And I really enjoyed the program, just waiting for my diploma to come in the mail. Good luck to you all. And don’t forget to sign up for Capella 30% discount for first responders. I used that. Graduated A.S RN program in May 2020

Hi! If you don't mind, can you tell me which facebook groups you joined or subscribed to? Thanks in advance.
