I am sailing in the same boat... I graduated 6 years ago and had no clue where to start..Someone recommended Saunders and it was a great help as I really needed to go through the entire course to refresh myself.I took my exam and failed but I was near passing so I am planning to take it again and hopefully will pass it this time.I am looking for a study partner online so lemme know if you wanna study together...
If I were you I'd do an in depth, comprehensive review with the Saunders NCLEX prep book and then purchase the Kaplan q-bank to start getting the feel for what NCLEX questions are like. Saunders is to the point, structured nicely, user friendly book and a down right great review from head to toe. If you need any links to these study materials let me know.
I would think you'd also want to get some textbooks and read them, taking notes as if you were studying for class again. Just answering questions is not enough. Your long gap without applying the material to the clinical environment means you need much more than practice NCLEX-style questions.
In addition to Saunders, I've heard Hurst is also content based. Kaplan would be best in analyzing the questions NCLEX gives you. UWorld is similar to Kaplan (and cheaper) as well as gives more detailed explanations.
I personally think if you're wanting to get a little bit of both, to check out NCSBN. This site is created by those who make the NCLEX!
Hi, please can you help me with the links..preparing to take mine very soon. Thanks...please send to [email protected]
