Hi jamesnoon and Rhonuk . Im writing down my journey about my pursuit of the RN license to help encourage NCLEX RN test takers and give back God the glory . Just like most foreign graduates who got declined by California BON , I felt lost , depressed and also couldn't move out of California cuz of my ailing parents . I graduated with BSN in 2011 in the Philippines ,a second courser and now in my early fifties . Needless to say ,but this was mentioned during my review, that the US graduates have more edge of passing than the foreign counter part . I took the exam 1/30 /2017 , praise God, I passed it the first time at 75 questions . I reviewed 5 months, focusing first on the contents by reading Saunders and my school notes . Enrolled online with Kaplan self paced review and done only the diagnostic, question banks , question trainers 4,5,6 ,7 , practice tests with scores ranging from 50 % to 60% average and finally got 66 % on the readiness test . I also subscribed to UWorld on the last 1 month of my review . UWorld was as difficult as NCLEX and helped me a lot cuz of its superb rationalization. On UWorld's assessment test , I only got 51 % and missed 9 questions cuz I run out of time ...but , let me say this ...don't get discouraged even if you got scores of 40 ish % to 50 ish %, cuz I did and still passed the NCLEX...last thing though , prayers helped me a lot and meditated on God's words like :

> Psalm 121:2 "My help comes from the Lord , who made heaven and earth ."

>Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know my plans for you , "declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future ."

To sum it up , do your best and God will do the rest ...do the possible and God will do the

impossible...

Get yourself on UWORLD! It's is the best study system out there! I passed first try studied for two weeks didn't write down any notes. I'm a mediocre student as well. Good luck!

If I took more than a year off of school I would 100% take an in person refresher course. Who knows how much has slipped through and you said you needed a content review. With refresher courses you can reinforce your knowledge, shake off some of the dust, and you have a real life person to help you with content and test strategies. If you can find one I think it's a really good idea.

Hi, hope&faith! I also graduated in 2011 in the Philippines. I am really having a hard time reviewing for NCLEX. May I ask how long have you been studying for NCLEX and do you have a review/time schedule? I already failed before and I want to pass this time. BTW, Jeremiah 29:11 is my bible verse too and congratulations on passing the NCLEX!

Hiii joycie 11. I was working as a caregiver on 24 hr shifts while I did my NCLEX review . I reviewed for 5 months . Spent the first 3 months on the content using Saunders , Carl Balita review books (this book is from the Philippines ) and my old school notes . The 4th month I got to work on the practice q / q banks /q trainers of Kaplan .I like Kaplan cuz it made me confident w/doing drug and other calculations . On the last month of my review I tackled UWorld , memorized lab values and some 35 pp of NCLEX study guide that can that be found here (I can email this to you if you like ). I usually study 3 hours in the morning ,4am to 7am , took timed test of 75 questions from UWorld and if I had free time during my work I studied the rationalization of each questions and took notes . I also studied 3 hours at night , 8pm to 11 pm and took another 75 questions on tutor mode. A day before my exam I reviewed again the lab values , drugs and some notes I wrote form UWorld . I like UWorld cuz of the level of difficulty of the questions and the rationalizations were excellent.

When you take the NCLEX and if you dont have any idea w/c one is the correct answer (multiple choices) , do the process of elimination ...then , if you only have last 2 choices and still not sure w/c to pick , go back and analyze the question and you will see the clue there .Kindly , spend a little more time on the first 75 questions ,so ,you can have a better chance of finishing the test at the minimum number.

Lastly, keep in mind that GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME ,that he has good plans for you and that you can pass this on your second try.GOD BLESS !
