Hi all,
I just recently passed my NCLEX (2 days ago), as I verify my RN license online at TEXAS BON website. I was surprised that my licensed was soon to expire. Most of my friends don't have this problem !!! What should I do ? Here is what i seee on the BON website
"Texas Initial Licensure Date:
2/5/2009
Licensure Status:
CURRENT - 10/31/2009"
Btw, i was born on 1985 !

I am not sure. Here in NM your licensure is good for two years from the date you pass the NCLEX. I would contact the BON especially because if you need CEU's by then that maybe difficult. But Hey congrats! I hope it all works out.

I just found out I passed the nclex today and mine is similar...
my issue date is 2/5/09
my expiration date is 9/30/2010
thats not 2 years! I'm not too worried about it but just to let you know you're not the only one that isn't licensed for 2 years off the bat!
Your license expires the last day of the month of your birthday, the year based on whether you were born on an odd year or an even year. The board will not grant any licenses longer than two years, therefore your first license can be quite a bit short depending on when you graduate. Once you renew, you'll be on the two year schedule.
Yes, I was born on Oct 1985. So i guess i should be paying to renew the license. Thanks to hypocaffeinemia.

Some states avoid having everyone license falling due in the same year so they alternate years. i.e. some nurses licenses are due to be renewed in odd numbered years and some in even numbered years. Maybe you are to be renewed in odd numbered years? They charge only half the fee the first time you renew if you only had your license for a year or less.
Wow thats really different from NM. Mine was issued 2/3/09 and expires 2/28/11. My birthday has no correlation to that! Wierd. Bummer. At least you get it out of the way and will be good for an additional 2 years.

I got my license 7/28/08, and it expires 1/6/10. MA licenses are good for 2 years; LPNs renew in odd years, RNs renew in even years.

I'm in CA and I was issued my license 12/1/08 and it expires 8/31/10. I thought since I graduated from nursing school on that date, they gave me two years according to my graduation date. But who know?!?!
All the states' rules are different. The scenario I described above is unique to Texas, I believe.

I was licensed in 07/2008 and my license expires 4/30/09. My birthday is in April
I had a classmate who was licensed also in 07/2008 and hers expired 12/31/08, her birthday is in December.
Connecticut nurses licenses expire on the last day of the birth month and are good for two years, following your initial licensing.
