1st time RN licensed , but the license expires toooo SOON - another post
Wow thats really different from NM. Mine was issued 2/3/09 and expires 2/28/11. My birthday has no correlation to that! Wierd. Bummer. At least you get it out of the way and will be good for an additional 2 years.

New RNs delegating to LPN's.
I HEAR YA BUDDY! I am 21 as well, however I was 18 when i got my LPN and I have been taking crap since then (both other staff and patients). Hopefully your manager backed you up because that is RIDICULOUS. I understand that sometimes the tech and LPN experience can be helpful and beneficial and there is a lot to learn from them. I do understand that they have knowledge earned by there experience that I don't have, No I haven't been working for 20 years, that doesn't make my degree null and void and I do know what I am doing. Make it clear that it is your hard earned license on the line. You are the care taker and they are being delegated to by you. I get soooo sick of hearing " Your younger than my kids, how could you possibly know anything". I call the these Old hag nurse (mean I know) sorry... and prove to them that i do know what i am talking about! Unfortunatley sometimes you really have to use your assertive communication skills and make them understand that you won't tolerate them ignoring you. Some of the older techs that I worked with I tried really hard to create a team like effort while still being the person in charge, this seemed to help. GOOD LUCK! Keep trying, I finally don't tell people my age, I simply say "does it matter?"

Being a New Grad stinks
Just another piece from personal experience, I know the economy is terrible and jobs are hard to find, however getting a job doing something that you really don't want to do can lead to early burn out. I worked in a skilled nursing facility for 4 years because it paid well and was the only place that would hire me as an LPN, in that four years it was easy to become bitter, burn-out and tired. Throughout the entire 4 years I kept wondering " Y am I nurse anyways?".... My point is to just be cautious, don't just sign up for anything. Despite the economy sucking, nurses are still in high demand... I like the advise to go directly to the manager, that is how I got my L and D job ( AND I LOVE IT, AND I LOVE BEING A NURSE!)

pregnancy chance
Right... The point being that there is no one way to tell there are way to many factors for every women. I have NEVER even been asked that. I don't know that there is a exact stat. It depends if oral contraception have been used recently or any sort of hormonal, nutritional status, familial history, reproductive history ect... I guess I am not understanding what exactly is needed because I am not sure that there is a way to tell the chances. Sorry I am not of much helpl. Just a question... How is this going to help you get into the RN program...what is the assignment/reason your asking.

pregnancy chance
I am not sure of the actual statistics however, from my personal experience I can have intercourse on the days that I am ovulating, the days before and the days after and 5 months later, no pregnancy! There are so many factors that I am not sure you really can tell. The best thing to do is to make a consultation appointment with your MD or keep trying. I actually think that the number is small. There are some great books on the topic!

Would you feel comfortable with putting your loved ones in a nursing home?
As a former nursing home nurse...NO WAY in a million years. Despite the number of wonderful nurses that may work in LTC (in my experience most of the nurses in LTC aren't so wonderful) they cannot control a corporations desire for a good profit. Here in NM we have 30 patients that are freshly D/C'd from the hospital and that is WAY too many! Hints the change in jobs....

1st time RN licensed , but the license expires toooo SOON - another post
I am not sure. Here in NM your licensure is good for two years from the date you pass the NCLEX. I would contact the BON especially because if you need CEU's by then that maybe difficult. But Hey congrats! I hope it all works out.

Being a New Grad stinks
I recently graduated and passed my NCLEX as well. Here in NM we are so short of nurses that it is super easy to find a job. I just started fresh out of school on an L and D unit with 3 months of orientation. I am not sure what its like in CO but all of our hospitals here hire new grads and are usually happy to have them. Our univeristy hospital has a residency program for new grads as well. I would think long and hard before I moved but on the other hand you put a lot of effort into becoming a nurse and what a drag to not be able to use that! I haven't really heard bad things about Maxim, however here agencies wont hire new grads, you need 1 year experience first. One of my good friend is trying to move the Austin Tx and having the exact same problem as you. Let me know what happens... Hang in there... maybe your dream job is awaiting you?

Drawing blood and shakey hands!!!
I had some what of the same problem when I first started IV's. I found that although I didn't feel very nervouse I was. As I got more and more IV's the shakes went a way. I am hypoglycemic so I also get shakes really bad when my sugar is low...ya may wanna think about that. I am sure you'll do great. Be confident and the more times you try the better you will get!

New RNs delegating to LPN's.
As a former LPN and a new RN I have some insight on this. As a brand new LPN I found that the techs and aids had a really hard time taking delgation from me, and always had an issue..for example " My kids are older than you, I don't have to...". As an RN I now find that LPN's and Techs have the same sort of issues. Is all i can say is once you earn their respect and show them what a fantastic nurse you are, hopefully it wont be a prob! Hang in there! I think it often seems threatening to be delegated to by a newer healthcare professional.

Took NCLEX-RN today..freaking out!
I took my NCLEX RN today. I got 75 questions, a ton of select all that apply, a ton of priority Q's and a few drugs. I was hoping for more drugs, I know those....I feel like I failed miserably because all of the questions seemed outrageously hard.
