Just curious where everyone else is with this in their program. I know the numbers will continue to drop after the first semester, and then again after the second. Seems like the the second year is when it stabilizes and the students left are in it for the long haul. We have already lost 25% of our first year. SG
We started last term with 11 students. When we came back for the 2nd term, one has stopped becuase of some major things going on in her life and we miss her much. We gained 4 more students though so it has been an adjustment.
We have learned from upper classes that this course is the "weeding out" course so we'll see! :):)

we started with 55, lost 1 the 1st day
Midterm we were down to 38
Yesterday was the last day to drop the class with out getting a failing mark on your transcript so it will be interesting to see on monday who stuck it out (we had a unit test that same day)
I might be right on the boarder of passing, but they will have to kick me out before I am ready to give up!
There are 35 students in my class so far since starting in Sept. I'm in Med-Surg and that number is down since the first quarter when we had 45. We just had mid-terms so I know through conversations that some will be dropping after we get our grades on Thursday if they didn't pass!
Lost a total of 4 students after mid-terms, so we are now down to 31! We have one more exam and the finals, and most are already crying that their chances of getting through this quarter are slim.
Seems to me that the nursing schools goal is to have a super high passing rate so that they can keep their accreditation, and also the federal (?) funds that they get for their part of the college. Seems like the most popular way that the colleges do this is to "weed out" everyone who might not pass NCLEX, before they graduate.
What do you think?
