St Philip's College LVN Spring 2015 Applicants!

Published

Hey guys! Turned in my application in the middle of October and am impatiently waiting for the end of the month when we find out if we made it. :)

Does anyone off the top of their head know the hours for the daytime program? I'm blanking and can't remember. Also, does anyone know how competitive the program is or what GPA they're accepting right now?

Yup, that's the one! Okay, I'll just take all my paperwork with me when I go to get them done Tuesday ?

You would think that the school would've clarified that for us. The lady who did my prints said the 2 fast passes were normal for nursing students. I guess either way, your prints will be attached to both of the ORIs. Hopefully at least 1 makes it to the right place!

Wish they would have! Oh well.

So what are y'all doing to get ready for starting nursing school? I've been reading articles like crazy. My list is basically: get new glasses, get into a regular workout routine, eat healthy/drink water, deep clean my apartment, get finances in order, and basically just get my life in order before I go in.

I think I'm doing the opposite & just trying to enjoy these last few weeks of freedom. This will be the 3rd program I've been in so I kinda know what to expect. You need to be prepared to literally not have a life for the next year & also read, read, read, read & read again EVERYTHING. Because nclex will cover everything, you constantly have to refresh the materials you did in the beginning while at the same time comprehending the material in your current classes.

It's crazy but necessary. Just be glad you don't have to live that craziness for a 2yr program. Well not yet at least lol

Third program? What were the others? I'm gonna enjoy these weeks as much as I can ?

Phlebotomy & Radiography. Well Phlebotomy was only one semester, kinda something I did to kill time while waiting to see if I'd got into the Radiography program. It's funny cuz both of those experiences were great but they also helped me realize my passion was for nursing especially the ER rotations.

My heart would break for the critical patients cuz I would come shoot the x-ray & then just leave, or standby while the nurses performed cpr. I want to be more involved in patient care.

That's great that you already have some experience with patient care!

I went and got my prints done today. The customer service lady for the scheduling said that the ORI was fine. It's the one for actual nurses, but the registry automatically switches us to the ORI that the school gave us because the BON lets them know that we're students and not nurses yet.

I'm so excited!

Reading from the first page from briisharii do they really have an LVN to bsn program??? If so, How do u know?!?! I think I heard someone say something that they are starting it...but I'm not sure

I first heard it from a nursing student that was in my Chem class. She said it starts in 2016 & it's a partnership with UIW. Then when I turned in my app the info came on the screen of a monitor in the office. I was sitting where I couldn't see it but the girls who could were talking about it.

I've looked it up but can't find any information yet besides the lvn-bsn bridge at Wayland Baptist restarting in Jan 2016.

Maybe St.Philip's will start putting more info out there next year

Yay! One step closer to being official.

I heard it from my boyfriend who is a nurse...and his coworkers were talking about it. I couldn't find aany info.online for st.phillips for the LVN to bsn or adn whichever one

The ADN program was suspended for nclex scores but I don't know when they'll start that back up.
