St. Pauls School of Nursing 2018

Published

I recently just got kicked out of the Hunter nursing program for failing pharmacology. I dont really know what my options are now. Hunter has ruined my gpa and I've heard that it is very hard to get the nursing programs at laguardia, bmcc or queensboro because it is so competitive. Im thinking of going to St. Pauls because I've heard they will accept anyone as long as you pay the hefty tuition price of around 50k. I just wanted to get some reviews on St. pauls. I know it is a very expensive school for an associates degree but can you transfer some prerequisites? Will transferring credits drastically reduce the tuition price? my prerequisite grades are:

ENG 120& 220: B+

Statistics 113: B

Psych 100 & 150: A

General Chemistry: A

Orgo Chemistry: B

Anatomy 1: D

Anatomy 2: B

Microbio: B

I've heard the school has requires two entrance exams before being accepted into the program. Are these entrance exams very hard or as long as you reach the required scores, it is an automatic admission?

These questions should be directed to the people at the said school.

1. Hunter did not ruin your GPA, you did.

2. I heard this school is a terrible place to be. Search for it on here, or google reviews from current or former students.

From what I hear the place is a mess this is from some grads that I'm in a different BSN program with. However if it's your own option and you're able to teach yourself it may work out.

i asked for information and they never gave it to me. i found this the case to be with most for profit schools. or they'd just bombard you ten times a day with phone calls. it's nuts. and i also heard both st. pauls and swedish institute don't allow you to transfer credits, and their credits don't transfer elsewhere. but it hasn't been confirmed with me since i could never get anyone to talk to me at st. pauls. just how disorganized they are from the start is such a turn off. ;/ but keep us updated!

Hey, I know there are so little information about St. Paul so I'll tell you what I know.

I'm also trying to get into SPSN this fall and took their pre exam test as well as HESI (entrance). I took most of my classes in CUNY and I was told that my credits will transfer. But keep in mind that they will not let you know which credits WILL transfer or not. You have to be accepted to school first for the admission dept to determine which credits will transfer or not.

Pre exam is real easy (look through other posts) and HESI is basic Reading, Writing and Math (NO Science). My pre requisite grades are pretty good and scored mid 80s on HESI so I hope to get in.

Wish you lots of luck finding different school as there is no good/perfect nursing school in NYC imo.

Hi swtxms1005, you said you took most of your classes at CUNY and transferred over credits, just curious what CUNY did you attend? i have several prerequisites taken at CUNY as well but im not sure if they will transfer over. For example, will the english classes i took fulfill the english requirement St. pauls asks for? thank you

I went to BMCC for my prerequisites and recently got accepted so I will no longer pursue SPSON but I'm not going to stop the application process since I'm also curious to see which of the credits will transfer. It's my understanding that basic core classes like English and other classes like science, sociology etc will be accepted as long as they are taken within certain number of years (I think 2 years). The best way to have your questions answered is to go there during orientation. Good luck!

Was there a fee for the hesi exam?

Anybody going for Spring 2019 ?
