Does anyone know if any of theses hospitals hire without experience to take patient vitals etc. I would like to get my foot in the door while taking my pre-reqs.

that's so funny! If you have to ask, then you are'nt ready for the answer. Anyway, up to elbows in pooo isnt the worst as there are so many other things that can be happening all at the same time and you are being stretched in 5 different directions, you just have to have a good sense of humor, focus on where you plan to be 6 months from now, and then it is all good. consider dookie like boot camp

I know St John likes you to have completed at least 1 clinical rotation.

I have worked at 3 different hospitals and Henry Ford is by far the best. They treat you with respect, offer great help with tuition and stipends, allow a great deal of autonomy and are very well respected. I have been an Extern since August and I love it. It is a great place to work.

Hey!! finally ran into one of ur posts on here lol.
I work w/chuckz at HFH detroit campus and was also a nurse extern in the ER before i graduated, i love it there. Can't say much about st johns personally but i'm not a huge fan of beaumont, and they are always laying a lot of people off. check out henryford.com and look at all the job listings, they'll tell u the job requirements on there. good luck to u and don't worry about the code browns aka "dookie", if u end up in ER it will be the least of ur worries

Regarding the many smells of a hospital...breathe through your mouth. It really does help. Good luck!
