I was THRILLED when I found out I had been moved all the way to FIRST ALTERNATE for this fall but now I'm just going CRAZY! LOL I keep my phone within 2 feet of me at all times... Peek at it every few minutes when I'm in the shower...Haha You never know when they might call right?
But this whole maybe ya will, maybe ya won't stuff is just too much! I have two little boys, do I need to have a daycare? Should I be getting ready? Part of me thinks I should plan as though I'm going to start and the other part of me thinks if I go through all of that and don't end up starting it will break my heart!!!!
I just want to know one way or the other! Sorry for the vent... Good luck to all of you that have a for sure spot this fall! Hope I'm right there with you!
You still have a couple of weeks. So hang in there ! Lot's of things happen in peoples lifes , and they have to drop out. I think it's a great idea that you are brushing up on your math skills. There is alot of great sites here that can help you get started with nursing med calculations. Check them out. And also I think it's a great idea to give your house a good cleaning. I don't know about you but with me I find it hard to study when my house is a mess. Are you done with your pre's yet ? If you are that helps alot. You can devote all your time to nursing classes. Good Luck ! I hope and pray you get in !!!
No, unfortunately my prereqs aren't done. I have most of them done but I will be taking Survey of Chem with my fall classes and A&P2 with my spring classes. I really didn't think I would be starting this soon or I would have busted my butt to get those done but oh well. I'm up for the challenge. :redbeathe:up:
Oh wow! Well I was #11 as of June so I thought there was no way I was getting in. Then they called to say I was top 5 and now next in line!!! :yeah:I couldn't believe it! Congrats to you on getting in as well!!! Have you started? How are the classes going???
In the program I attended, they were making offers to alternates a day or two before classes started.
I'm not in the program now - I graduated last August & am currently enjoying a relaxing, carefree (!!!NOT!!!) New Grad RN Residency program. That finishes in another week or two, and then I hope to start either an ICU or an ER Nurse Fellowship program.
Something to consider is the "Klingon method" of obtaining a job promotion (or a position in your class). Find out who's directly above you in line, and arrange a slight "accident". Instant opening! (yes, I'm kidding.....sort of:D).

Don't panic ! Do you want my I would try to take at least one in the summer next year. This way you can devote your time to nursing classes. Might me asking what school you are an alternate for ? Some schools around here want you to have chem done before you start nursing. I only have two more pre's to do. And this only goes on if I pass the net. NO I MEAN I"M GOING TO PASS THE NET !!!!!! I worked hard and I want to go to this school. But just is case and I mean JUST IN CASE. I have back ups. But unfortunately I have to take more classes for these schools. Enough of me. Like I said before hang in there. You never know. It's so close you can taste it !!!
I've been on the wait list since May. My school starts on Aug 24th and doesn't let anyone move off the list after July 31st because of the sheer number of THINGS that have to be done prior to starting. Well on July 29th I got THE CALL. I had given up hope w/ only three days to go and almost fell off my chair when she called.
Good for you for thinking ahead because you should see my schedule between now and the 24th. I have two orientations, have to order uniforms & books, a physical, a crap ton of shots and titers, the TEAS test, and CPR to get in the next three weeks. Not to mention some frantic cleaning and other things I want to have done before school becomes my main focus for the next two years!

Bahahahahaha Thanks for the laugh!!! I really needed it today!

Thanks! I would take one in the summer but at my school we have classes in the summer as well. I live in Nebraska and I'm attending the local community college, Mid Plains Community College (MPCC). I'm a little stressed about the chem but the A&P 2 class is just a one night a week deal where we do lecture/lab on the same night. It's basically just for the nursing students and one of the second year students that took it said the teacher totally understood that his class took a backseat to their nursing studies. So I'm good with that. Like I said, I'm passionate about this so bring on the hard work!

WOW! Talk about cutting it close! CONGRATS on getting your spot!!! That's awesome.
I haven't done any of the blood work/shots or anything like that because I was told not to until I knew for sure but I have taken my CPR, so I'm good there. :wink2: I can't wait to be in your shoes!

You will love the one night a week a&p 2. I did this for a&p 1 but unfortunately they don't offer it for a&p 2. You also have classes in the summer ? Wow usually for us they are just 1 credit courses as a pre to nursing 1 & 2 . This way you can take summer classes. Keep me one up if you hear any thing !!! I'm hoping and praying for you !!!

Thank you for your prayers. That really means a lot to me. :heartbeat
Yes, summer classes are roughly:
Tues: 12:00-5:30
Wed: 8:30-4:30 (Then check for patient changes)
Thurs: Clinical 5:45am-2
With a second clinical day on Monday or Friday TBA
This doesn't jive with the summer chem course because it's Mon-Thurs from 11-4.... A bummer for sure because I would LOVE to focus 100% of my attention to my nursing classes, but if I can start I'm not going to turn it down! My family really needs me to finish this so if it means a few extra hours of studying a night, so be it. :)
Wow that's a full schedule for a summer ! When are you expected to graduate ? Is this a rn program or a lpn program ? Not that I'm aware of here in PA there is no summer classes in nursing. Just pre's . Are you a stay at home mom ? If you don't have to work till you graduate DON"T !! You will be to busy with your little ones and school. Sorry about your chem you will be fine. Time management and remember things will get done one way or another. Take the spot if it opens up. Things will work out !! :wink2:Thank you for your prayers. It's an ADN (RN) Program. If I get in, I will graduate in May of 2011. I would LOVE to get the summer off!!! Spend some much needed time with my boys... Oh well. It's really only a little over a year and a half and it will be worth it! I am blessed that I don't have to work. I don't think I could take that on top of school and kids! It's going to be hard enough not getting to spend as much free time with them.
