Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

Hi everyone,

Do you guys and gals know how much the interview counts for our overall application? Do grades carry more weight, or does the interview?

I interviewed today too. My actual interview lasted about 15-20 minutes. The lady who interviewed me was very nice, asked me about 5 questions. I hoped I answered everything well enough. I felt I didn't say everything I wanted to say. I had the same question as Beebers - does the interviewer see our transcripts or grades? I hope so, but I felt that the interviewer didn't know about my HESI scores or GPA.

Good luck to everyone!!

SerenePeach...what questions did they ask?

i know ut does place a lot of weight on the interview...my interviewer today told me she didn't have time to look at all my stuff before i got there!! she did look over my questionnaire and asked me a question about something on it. overall she was very nice and sweet and i felt i forgot to mention some things and then at other times i had word vomit and just kept talking

Had my interview today and it went ok. My interviewer was very nice and only asked a few questions. I don't think I was in there for very long which, makes me kind of scared. Crossing my fingers for some good luck.

Had my interview today at 8:00am. If i counted correctly, there were about 23 people in my group. There was a whopping 3 males. My interview seemed pretty short also, but I think everyone was getting done pretty quickly. My interviewer was a.... Ms. Shaw?

Guys, I don't think we should talk about which questions were asked or what the writing sample prompt was during the interview. It's unfair to the first batch of people who went in without any sort of knowledge about what to expect. It gives the next incoming batches an upper hand/advantage. I think it's fine to talk about how it was in general - like the waiting, the level of difficulty of the interview, that kind of stuff....just to keep things fair. :o

Why do you think the interviews are so short?

I have an interview at 8 A.M. tomorrow!! I have a question for those of you who have interviewed.. Do they ask about volunteer work? I am currently volunteering but have not listed it on my resume.

lindylou88 - they ask you to list any volunteer experience in a questionnaire prior to the writing sample.

I had my interview this morning at 8AM!! Hello to everyone who was there!!! The interview went as everyone has said already. The order they pick you to go up to the interviewer is by lottery, completely random. They did not ask me about volunteering. I think the interviewer had my resume and my questionnaire and writing sample. I don't think they had the transcripts or anything. I think what happens is they go back and review that stuff after the interviews are all over. The interview itself was really not bad at all. I interviewed with an older lady. I can't remember her name, but she said she works with peds...does anyone know who I am talking about?

what exactly was it they asked you on the written sample, and on the interview itself?

Oh ok cool! Thank you for your help!
